Ever wonder what the most powerful leaders, business execs and celebrities keep on their desks? Well, we’re about to tell you. Our biweekly “What’s on My Desk” feature will take a look inside the offices and at the desks of the world’s most influential power players.

This week we’ve featured Ashley Lacour, CEO of Sibarth Villa Rentals in St. Barth Ashley Lacour is the CEO of Sibarth Villa Rentals, the original villa company on St. Barth that was founded by his parents, Brook and Roger Lacour. Sibarth has luxury villa rentals around the island, and Ashley was born and raised on the island and shares his insider knowledge with Sibarth’s guests. “I work best when all my senses are stimulated. That’s why on my desk I like to keep objects that inspire me in different ways. Some bear sentimental value, some have a spiritual meaning, and some fulfill a practical purpose with aesthetic flair,” says Ashley. “What Sibarth Villa Rentals offers is dreams, so I surround myself with reminders of my own dreams—ones shaped by my passion for travel, art, design and spiritual fulfillment.” Here is a look at the items on his desk.

Cire Trudon Candle – Trudon is my favorite candle partly because it comes from a venerable French manufacturer, but more because the scents are evocative of a different epoch. The candle on my desk is their Solis Rex scent, reminiscent of the wooden floors of Versailles.

Strong Espresso – Sometimes caffeine is an integral part of inspiration, and having the right tools for the perfect coffee is vital. On a recent trip to England, in an antique shop in Lewes, East Sussex, I discovered this set of silver spoons that make every cup feel special.

Moleskine Agenda – The history and craftsmanship behind the creation of the classic Moleskine notebook helps make my black agenda an indispensable part of my work. The softness of the leather and the simplicity of its design ease the stress of living according to a schedule.

Buddha from Thailand & Elephant from India – These are two very dear gifts from my attorney, a good friend who loves traveling as much as I do. They bring serenity and good luck to this workspace and they remind me of the importance of meditation.

Hermès Book Collection by Koto Bolofo – Hermès for me is the ultimate luxury brand because it not only encompasses excellence in the creation of its products but also provides an art de vivre for its clients. I admire the company’s ability to remain a trendsetting force while adhering closely to its values and traditions. Maintaining this equilibrium is central to my role at Sibarth, a true family business founded by my parents nearly four decades ago.

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac Painting – I love the lightness and humor in JC’s works, and this particular piece has the ability to make me smile no matter what pressures I’m dealing with. Sibarth recently added this work to our growing art collection in conjunction with our Art in St. Barth initiative. A larger painting by JC is currently on display in Sibarth’s reception area as well.
