An exciting new movie (After The Ball) is coming out soon that sounds very Devil Wears Prada meets Cinderella – a girl with big dreams to make it in the fashion world but her evil stepmother and two wicked stepsisters’ deceitfulness, plus her father’s profession, seem to make her unemployable in the industry.

Oh, and there’s a really handsome guy and (of course) a love story thrown into the mix.

A movie about fashion, romance and drama? You know where I’ll be when it’s released! ;)

To add to the excitement even more, a) After The Ball is being shot right here in Canada (Montreal to be exact); and b) Le Chateau will be designing and creating the women’s and men’s clothing, footwear, and accessories for the movie. The entire collection will be unveiled concurrently with the release of this film and available exclusively at Le Château stores and online in fall 2014.

Are you excited yet? Because I cannot even contain myself – I love exclusive collections and even more so when they’re by Canadian brands.

Here’s a little synopsis about the movie from the press release:

“After the Ball, a retail fairy tale set in the world of fashion, starring Portia Doubleday, Marc-André Grondin, Chris Noth, Lauren Holly, Mimi Kuzyk, and Carlo Rota and directed by Sean Garrity is before the cameras in Montreal. Producers of the feature film are Don Carmody, Robin Crumley, Gabriella Martinelli and Jane Silverstone Segal. Mario Davignon is the Costume Designer and Le Château is creating an exclusive collection for the film.

Kate’s (Portia Doubleday – Her, Carrie) dream is to design for couturier houses. Although she is a bright new talent, Kate can’t get a job. No one trusts the daughter of Lee Kassell (Chris Noth – The Good Wife, Sex and the City), a retail guru who markets clothes “inspired” by the very designers Kate wants to work for. Who wants a spy among the sequins and stilettos?

Reluctantly, Kate joins the family business where she must navigate around her duplicitous stepmother (Lauren Holly – Motive, What Women Want) and two wicked stepsisters. But with the help of a prince of a guy in the shoe department (Marc-André Grondin –L’affaire Dumont, CRAZY), her godmother’s vintage clothes and a shocking switch of identities, Kate exposes the evil trio, saves her father’s company — and proves that everyone can wear a fabulous dress.

Award-winning Sean Garrity (My Awkward Sexual Adventure) directs After the Ball, written by Jason Sherman and Kate Melville.

After the Ball is produced by Don Carmody Productions, Martinelli Productions and Jane Silverstone Productions, in association with Telefilm Canada and with the participation of the Ontario Media Development Corporation.  International sales will be handled by Myriad Pictures. Pacific Northwest Pictures is the film’s Canadian distributor.”
