Rihanna headlined the 2016 Global Citizen Festival held in New York last night. The new Global Ambassador for Education spent the days leading up to the music festival encouraging world leaders like Justin Trudeau and François Hollande to take action on education. The Barbadian performer worked with longtime stylist Mel Ottenberg for this event. He selected a few pieces from her frequent collaborators with one stand out jacket from a young designer.
Let’s talk about that jacket first. It’s by Snow Xue Gao, a Chinese designer who attended the Institute of Fashion Technology and is currently working on a Master of Fine Arts degree at Parsons. In fact, some of the designer’s work was featured in the Parsons MFA Spring 2017 collection [Looks 27-35]. Rihanna wore the oversized pinstripe blazer from Look 29. It has a bright orange lining that peaks out of the lapel. Check out Snow Xue Gao’s website to learn more.
Underneath Rihanna sported a custom pinstripe romper by Adam Selman. It features lace-up detail in the front. The white top is by Chrome Hearts. There is Chrome Hearts branding along the neckline and down the sleeves. The billowing cuffs are from Luar. Manolo Blahnik designed those crystal-embellished green suede pumps.
Her accessories included custom earrings by Kerin Rose Gold. Orange Swarovski crystals adorn the hoop earrings. Gold also created earrings for Rihanna’s VMAs after-party look. She also rocked Fallon‘s Monarch mesh fishnet sash choker ($190). As seen on the likes of Gigi Hadid, the crystal-studded choker can be worn as a choker or scarf.
