Mohandas Gandhi said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” What have you discovered about yourself by volunteering?
You certainly learn about what is important and what matters when you volunteer with someone less fortunate or with medical issues or some other affliction. The thing is, a lot of the time, there is a thin line between you and the people you are volunteering to help. As a matter of fact, it could one day be you needing the help of a volunteer, if it hasn’t been as of yet. Then you start to wonder, were they once me?

Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” Have you ever felt as if you changed the world?
The world,as defined by the planed earth, is a big place. To think that you alone can solve the problems of this world is somewhat naive if not grandiose. And certainly, having an open heart to volunteering should not come with the expectations of changing this world. We are only human and can only do what is possible for us to do.
Can a small group of people volunteering change a world?
I guess it depends on how you define that world and how big the world that is changing is.
Perhaps this small group of people can change the world, if only one step at a time.
