If you read my blog regularly, you may have seen me mention that I am not a nail fanatic. I paint my nails regularly, have a few shelves full of sparkly polishes, but it might be the one beauty product I get the least excited about. I think that might be because doing my nails takes soooo long because I'm a perfectionist, and more importantly I'm also incredibly impatient and end up ruining the polish before it's dry. My body always decides I desperately have to use the bathroom about 30 seconds after I paint my last coat of polish on, and keeping my freshly painted nails in pristine condition while wiggling out of my jeans isn't exactly the easiest task!
I have also tried a few brands of nail wraps before, which I have always enjoyed for the most part. If you've never heard of nail wraps, they are basically fancy stickers that go on top of your nails and stick there for usually around a week or so. You can get all kinds of different patterns and colors, and some look really professional. They're a lot cheaper than going to a salon, and pretty easy to do while you're watching an episode of Grey's Anatomy.
I was recently contacted by a lovely lady named Rizza, who asked if I could do a truthful and honest review on Jamberry Nail Wraps. She is an independent consultant for Jamberry, and while I normally turn down these offers, I have been pretty curious about these and would love to help a fellow lady out in her business!
So while some of you may already be fans, or have heard of Jamberry, I'm sure there are some of you (like myself) who are just starting to hear about them!
What is Jamberry?
Jamberry sells mostly nail wraps, but they also carry lots of nail care products and accessories, as well as nail lacquers. They have even recently launched a subscription box that costs $25 a month with free shipping. The company carries 300+ designs, which means there really is a style for everyone!
How Much Do the Wraps Cost?
One sheet of nail wraps costs $15 (USD)/ $17 (CAD) and it includes 18 nail wraps, which can be used for 2-3 applications. This was confusing to me at first, but I will explain below in a bit more detail. Either way, getting 2-3 applications (they work on toenails too!) is a great deal for $15. They also sell Jamberry Juniors nails for children up to at least 8 years old. They come with five to six applications!

Browsing through their catalog, I couldn't believe how many different styles and prints there were!
I decided on the Mint Green and Gold Horizontal Pinstripe, since I wear a lot of mint colors in the summer!
Each sheet comes in it's own individual wrapping, and there are how-to instructions on the back. This is great if you intend on giving these as gifts!
When you take the Nail wraps out of the sleeve, you will see they are very long and varying in sizes. As I explained in the photo, You're supposed to cut them down the middle and use each side. I was easily able to find wraps that fit each of my nails pretty well, although there were a couple that had a tiny bit of nail left showing, but it was hardly noticeable! Once I used these, I definitely had enough wraps for one more application, and will have some left overs to use for accent nails and/or nail art.
How Do You Apply Them?
1. Push Back cuticles and clean nails with a nail prep wipe or rubbing alcohol.
(I used nail polish remover to prep my nails and it worked fine. You can also apply these over polish if desired, as long as it's a fresh, dry coat.)
2. Match nail (finger or toe) to the nail wrap that best fits.
(As I stated above, I was able to find very close matches for all my fingernails, although there were one or two that had very small gaps where my real nail was sticking out. It was hardly noticeable.)
3. Peel off nail wrap and warm with a mini-heater or blow-dryer for 3-5 seconds until soft and flexible.
(Confession time: I don't own a blow-dryer. I always let my hair air dry, so this step was skipped for me. This MAY have an effect on how well the nail wraps perform, so when doing these on your own, make sure you give each wrap a blast of hot air so they adhere better!)
4. When warm, press the wrap onto the nail. Apply pressure around the edges of the nail to adhere the wrap. Use a rubber cuticle pusher to seal the wrap around the base of the cuticle.
5. Trim the top with scissors and file off remaining wrap using a downward motion to remove excess.
(This can be tricky if you're not careful. I trimmed my wrap ahead of time and placed the other half on the plastic they came on, so I didn't have to trim it once it was on my nail. Once adhered, I simply bent the excess over the top of my nail and gently filed until it came off.)
6. Apply heat and pressure to the wrap again to ensure it's bonded to the nail.
(Again, I didn't have a heat source, so I rubbed the wraps pretty thoroughly to create heat friction and make sure they were stuck on as much as possible)
Here's how they turned out!
Even without the blow-dryer, I felt like they stuck well to my nails. I would recommend following their directions though if you want to be sure that they say on for the full 7-10 days. Even so, applying these took less than an hour, and I can only assume it will take less and less time the more you get used to applying them.
I kept track of how the wraps held up over the coming days. My blueberry plant decided to make an appearance in this Day 3 photo. The nail wraps looked and felt exactly the same on Day 3 as they did when I first applied them. There was no peeling and no fading like I have experienced with some of the drugstore wraps.
Day 6 arrived, and My wraps still looked fantastic. By this point, I had already received compliments from multiple people! This was a new world for me considering I'm not really a nail-art person. My nails are rarely in the spotlight! I was very happy with their performance thus far and already felt they were well worth their cost.
Day 7 arrived, and while my wraps were still going strong, I had an event to go to, and the mint/gold wraps didn't match the outfit I was wearing, so I decided to remove them at that point. They had lasted a full week without any issues! I did have one of my nails start to peel a tiny bit at the top, but I can most likely attribute that to me not using the heat when applying them.
To remove these wraps, You either use heat and gently peel them off, or soak them in polish remover and gently rub them off. I peeled them off (again without heat) with no issue and more importantly: there was NO damage to my nails. I have used some drugstore wraps in the past and since my nails are so thin, they have occasionally pulled layers of my nail off with them during removal. I love that these were so easy to remove without damage. The only issue I had was there was some glue/sticky residue, although that was removed easily with polish remover.
Overall Thoughts
While I'm not a nail-fanatic, I was actually really impressed with the quality of Jamberry's nail wraps. I found them to be relatively easy to apply and remove. It was very impressive that they lasted 7 days with very minimal peeling. I definitely think I could have easily continued to wear them for a few more days if I had chosen to. I find these wraps to be an excellent value, especially when you can use one sheet multiple times. These would be a fun gift for bridesmaids, children's birthday parties, sleepovers, you name it! I can definitely see myself buying these again in the future when I want some fancy-pants nails!
