In an age when most children are too often drawn to screens - whether to watch television, text on mobile phones, or play video games - art offers a chance for creativity and personal expression. Learning to draw comes with a variety of developmental benefits for children. Drawing helps stimulate their imaginations, improve fine motor skills, exercise problem-solving strategies and can also help them gain confidence in their ability to master new crafts. Drawing teaches children to make decisions and can improve visual and perceptual skills as well. "Draw" can also be a great answer for the age-old question, "What can I do? I'm bored!"
Living in the country, obviously we are all familiar with this furry creature, but with just a few simple shapes, a sheet of black cover paper and oil pastels, the fox can be quite a striking creature. You can view and download this How To Draw A Fox tutorial from Kathy at Art Projects For Kids.

For some further inspiration, here are just some of the fabulous foxes completed by some six and seven year old children from my own classroom.
Here at Handmade Cooperative, we would love for you to email us your finished foxes to feature as a way to celebrate your child’s art success.
