OK, I'm not sure if I should call it a problem or not. Anyway, the other day at an IDPA match one of the stages called for picking up your pistol from a table with a loaded magazine inserted but not a round chambered. You then pick up the gun, work the slide and start shooting. After inserting the magazine, I learned something about this particular CZ that I had not noticed before mainly because if a magazine is in the gun, I carry cocked and locked and that also is the usual start condition for IDPA.

With the hammer down, I could not get the safety lever to go into the safe position. I own 3 CZ 75B pistols with another on order and all have been "smithed" by CZ Custom. The other two CZs that I have, the safety will engage with the hammer down and only this particular one won't do so. Upon further inspection it seems the sear is sitting just a thousandth or so too low to let the safety be flipped up into position. In the half cocked or fully cocked position the sear moves just enough to allow the safety to be engaged.

I'm not concerned so much about this being a safety issue for a few reasons: 1/ there is no round in the chamber to go off; 2/ I only carry cocked and locked and for competition if there is a round in the chamber that also holds true; 3/ Due to the heavy and long double action pull, even with a round in the chamber, its seems to me to be every bit as safe as, say, a Glock.

Keeping in mind that I often call myself a parts changer and not a gunsmith, any suggestions on what to do about this, if anything? I've thought about slipping a piece of fine emery cloth under the portion of the sear that's stopping the safety from engaging. Emery a little, then check it, emery some more, so on and so forth until I get it where I want. JayPee since you're the "CZ guy" I'd especially appreciate your input on this one.
