Mark Wonderlin's Insights:

“One of the things that I constantly talk about is having video marketing knowledge. It’s a key point of differentiation and a way to add a lot of value to your clients. Although this article is more focused towards the “client/business” rather than the “filmmaker” there is some great tips in there like: “don’t expect your video to go viral overnight, keep your video short & simple, and embed your video on your site and post it to YouTube. What do you think? Anything else you would add?”

Anyone who does marketing for their company knows how important it is to keep your marketing efforts fresh and relevant to your target market. One of the most popular ways to market to your audience is to do video marketing. Here are some great video marketing tips that you can use in your marketing plan.

Don’t be intimidated by the concept of video marketing. Creating quality videos is easy as long as you have a camera and a good editing software. Be creative when making your video and keep in mind what would keep you interested if you were just a viewer.

Great content is the surest way to get more people to view your video. It doesn’t require a fantastic camera to get viewed by millions of people. Your customers will view a video if they are interested and they think it adds value to their life. Still, you want the image to be as clear as possible. The most important thing about videos is the audio, as long as people understand what is going on they will keep watching.

Your content should be informative and useful. Make your video really pack a punch. People need videos that contain substance, nobody enjoys watching long commercials. A good video, along with good marketing, can mean great success.

You should be honest in your videos. Your audience will identify with you and trust you if they feel like you are being yourself. You should avoid swearing or saying anything you could regret in the long run so edit anything you feel does not serve your audience.

Don’t go at it alone. You may find it to be a challenge always coming up with video ideas. Come up with ideas by brainstorming with friends, family and employees. Don’t just do this once; have meetings throughout the year so that you continue producing new content.

Videos which are unpredictable work. If you can do something in your video which is surprising and yet not cheesy or lame, you’ll catch your viewer and they’ll share the video with family and friends. Go with cute, shocking or funny and avoid gory or juvenile humor as much as possible.

Don’t expect your video to go viral the same day. You must promote it using your website, social media accounts, and email. People need to know that your video exists to watch it. So put it in front of as many people as you can.

If you are making a video about a new product, keep it simple and short. Not a single viewer is going to sit through a 10 or 15 minute video about your latest product. If they want more information, have your contact information listed and give them a one on one demonstration. For your videos, keep it short and to the point.

On your website, embed your video, as well as putting it on YouTube. That way, visitors to your website can easily view the video, while also having easy access to your services and/or products. You should not lose views because views are counted regardless of whether the video is embedded or not.

Keep your logo prominently placed in your video, but make sure it doesn’t interfere with the content. Many companies use a translucent version of their logo to ensure that everything behind remains visible while people will know throughout the video who has produced it and where they can go afterwards to learn more.

The use of video in your marketing strategy is a smart idea and its popular. You can keep your marketing relevant and fresh by making use of live video or Hangouts to reach your buyers. Take the video marketing tips in this article and use them to make sure that you can smartly use video marketing for your business.
