Thank you so much for your review of my story, it really made my day. I will be adding the next chapter sometime within the next week if you wish to continue to read it.

RvB Rp
I was flicking thought the site recently and I noticed your ongoing RvB RP. I'm a big fan of he Freelancer side of RvB and I was wondering, is this RP just for people who are members of AAO or those that you are friends with and trust?

I understand either way

Also, nice pictures on the blog. Shame there is no liking system on wikipedia.

Ye, my timezone was what I was worrying about. I'm assuming that most of you live in America and I live in England (much to my continued dismay). I mean if most of you live in the east I could be around for a while but otherwise it'd be iffy.

Though I do have a reason for my freelancer to continually reappear and disappear.

I'll have to look and see what your collective timezones are and work out if it is possible for me.

I was expecting as much, I've done RP's like this before and there have been times where I have had to stay up fairly late. Has given me great training in excusing my characters from forth coming events. I kinda wish I had asked sooner, seeing as I'm currently not at school.

Also the blog I mentioned was the latest one I made.

And Brodie lives in England....interesting.

Recently been thinking about the RvB RP but there were a few more things I want to ask before I start work on anything. I've read a bit of the RP (Slowly making my way through it) but I want to know if you are staying with the RvB style of 'serious but with some wackyness' or a more 'realistic' take on the Freelancers?

Also while I would love to be in the RP from start to finish (If I can) I know from past experience, especially with this type of RP, that it isn't always the case. However as chance would have it the Freelancer I created all those years ago can help me now. His armour enhancement is a malfunctioning teleporter pack, I don't remember were that idea sprung from, but it would allow me to A. Enter and exit without leaving a character just standing there like his brain decided to wander off) which I have head to do with a lot of characters. B. Explain where he's been all this time. And C. Add a bit of humour in to the mix. I know the idea of a teleporter sounds......really odd, it does for me, but I am thinking of ways to make it less so.

There was something else on my mind that I wanted to ask but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. I'll add it in when I remember.

--The Pale Kestrl (talk) 20:03, September 11, 2013 (UTC)

Ye, when I was reading the parts I have so far it felt like you were leaning toward a more realistic take on the Freelancers. Also it's fine, even as I wrote that down it smacked me as a bit implausible. And there are only so many times that I can write down 'There is something wrong with the flux capacitor' before I start to look like Doc.

Anyway I guess i'll keep thinking. Still can't remember what that other thing was. I think it was something about my signature.

DIVINE SON - Reboot Edition!
{{MattSig8|Harbinger=That was quick O.O Though, just to make it clear, it's not a reboot of Dwindling Flame as a whole (I don't want to undo the work Ahalosniper poured into the other parts of the RP, after all), just the portion I moderated. But anyway, thanks! It's nice of you to offer assistance even though you're busy with other stuff, and any contributions are appreciated, no matter how small :)

As for character contributions: I remember you had Joseph Forenson involved in the original DIVINE SON, and an ODST platoon commander could always be useful (though his article says he was involved in the Battle of Delta Halo, which would conflict with the dates of DIVINE SON - then again, we could always apply the "alternate expanded universe" excuse). Other than that, I can't really think of any characters in particular right now, so if you've got any you'd like to use or see used (that sounded wrong...), feel free to suggest them. I'll look through your category too, to see if there's any of your stuff I forgot that would work really well.

Oh, and in case you're wondering about the changes I made in this "reboot": the overall story's largely the same (Covenant occupying Greece, UNSC forces scattered and attempting to form a resistance, etc.), it's mostly the details that are different. In particular, I changed around the dates a little, so that the main events (the ones outlined in my first Dwindling Flame post) don't occur until the 27th October, instead of the 23rd - mostly to give more room for logs before that. The ending's still a little open-ended, too - I haven't decided whether to introduce the Flood or not, for instance. Though I guess that might be a good thing - it could give you more opportunities to affect the direction, after all. If you've got any other questions, let me know.

And I'll try to stick around until then :)

EDIT: Ok, so I went through your stuff, and I stumbled across Isto 'Vadum. I recently decided to give one of my Covenant OCs, Shipmaster 'Crosunee (still working on a first name, since he was originally just going to be a one-shot background character), an expanded role - more specifically, he'll end up exacerbating the tensions between Brute and Elite shipmasters within the fleet by assassinating the reform-minded and idealistic fleet master, blame the brutes for it, take the position of Fleet Master for himself, and attempt to use that influence to restrict the Brutes' influence in the fleet. However, as I envisioned him as a strict, conservative and racist, though still somewhat honorable, traditionalist type, I figure he would need some prodding from someone a little more pragmatic in order to commit such a crime - which is where Isto comes in. So, is it ok if I use Isto as 'Crosunee's second-in-command (or the Field Master on Crosunee's ship, or a fellow shipmaster - just some rank which would put him in a good position to convince 'Crosunee to take decisive action)? Alternately, Atsu 'Hidal might work too in a similar capacity, and as a field master, he could also take part in some of the action on the ground if you'd like. Let me know what you think.}}

{{MattSig8|Orange=Really? The Vadam Legacies (and the characters spawned from them - or were the characters created first? I honestly don't remember) were what put you on the radar around here, dude - or at least my radar.

Anyway, about your two mean Crouchasauruses; all right, I'll add Isto as 'Crosunee's second-in-command and "devil-on-the-shoulder" (or Lady Macbeth, if you feel Shakespearian). Of course, if you like, it'd probably be easy to give him something more to do after that too - when 'Crosunee becomes fleet master, I imagine Isto could be made the new shipmaster of 'Crosunee's ship, which would open up other possibilities. He could take the ship to the surface to help put down the human resistance, for example.

And there's several possibilities for Atsu, though the ones I think might make the most sense storywise are (1) He's the field master assigned to the fleet's flagship - I'm assuming the flagship usually has the best/most experienced soldiers stationed on it, and based on the description on Atsu's article, I think it'd be fair to consider him worthy of leading said soldiers (2) He's the field master assigned to Isto's ship (assuming you want to go the route I mentioned above) - it could enable you to write some interesting interactions between those two, which could be intriguing considering they both lead The Fallen after the war. Either way, giving him opportunities to fight against smelly humans won't be any trouble :) And either way, it also gives me another idea - I'm later going to have SP501's spartans team up with one of mine (Rachel-343) and a Covenant AI convinced to side with the UNSC (if you haven't yet, you can read about the AI in the last of the four posts currently on the article) to capture an assault carrier - more specifically the fleet's flagship - while my other spartans are stuck fighting on the ground. Anyway, maybe Atsu could be the one to lead the charge against the UNSC forces on the ground? Given his leadership abilities, I think he could be a great challenge to my Spartan-III, Hào, who is also a strategic genius. He could even fight some of the Spartans in person, if you want.

Also, if you like I could give you a summary of the whole story as I have planned it out thus far, in case you want to have a better idea of what's going to happen (or maybe you want to be surprised? I wouldn't, but hey, it'd be embarrasing if I wrote everything I have planned only to learn after the fact you wanted to be surprised).

Oh, and that sig of yours is made of win :) I'm guessing you're a Lion King fan?}}

{{MattSig8|text=Hmm, I see your point. Though this may be a stretch, I might have a few solutions to that problem. Mind, they are primarily based on the theories put forth in this Halopedia forum thread, which I used as inspiration when I plotted out the Covenant stuff, which may not actually be correct (though to me at least it made a lot of sense). Anyway:

#The thread posits that it's likely the Covenant have no true divide between naval and ground force ranks, and that some positions previously assumed to be independent ranks may just be titles that can be held by many different ranks. So, for example, a Sangheili General (an actual rank) could be a Field Master, but also a Shipmaster, though not all Field or Shipmasters would be Generals - some could hold the rank of Zealot, Ultra or maybe even Major. If we assume this to be true, then Atsu could be a General that holds the title of Field Master, while Isto could be rewarded the title of Shipmaster, but be a lower rank (like say, Ultra). In other words, Atsu would have earned a higher overall rank because of more experience and/or skill, but kept as a Field Master because of personal preference, the will of the Fleet Master, or simply because he excels at being a field commander more than he ever would as a ship commander. By contrast, Isto would be a lower rank because he hasn't yet earned enough experience for a promotion, but as a long-time subordinate of a ship commander, it could be acknowledged that he has the skill necessary to command a ship, and thus he could be granted the title of Shipmaster. Long story short: this way, Atsu could still be a higher rank than Isto - they would simply have different responsibilities.

#A variant of the above, and incorporating your idea of having the two under different chains of command, it would also be possible to make Atsu answer to a different ministry than Isto. Most Covenant military forces answer to the Ministry of Resolution - which would apply to most of the Fleet of Ascendant Purpose. However, the Zealots are managed by the Ministry of Fervent Intercession, and it's been shown that some Zealots have held titles like Shipmaster (or in Arby's case, Supreme Commander), so having Atsu as a Zealot with the title of Field Master would make sense. However, Zealots are usually deployed to secure Forerunner relics or installations, and though I previously toyed with the idea of having a Forerunner slipspace artifact buried under Athens, I ended up benching that idea. I guess I could bring that idea back in some way, and to be fair, it seems like Zealots weren't always deployed on relic-hunting missions - and I did write in the first log that the invasion was specifically sanctioned by the High Council, which might be enough to give it great religious significance - so it could still work. Or we could flip it around and make 'Crosunee and Isto Zealots instead (which interestingly, once 'Crosunee assumes the title of Fleet Master, would technically put the whole fleet under Fervent Intercession authority - which may not go over well with those who serve the Ministry of Resolution).

#In the same vein as as point 2, two other ministries with some authority over military assets that Atsu or Isto could conceivably be part of instead of the Ministry of Reosolution are the Ministries of Preservation - responsible for putting down rebellions within the Covenant - and Abnegation - overseeing the Ascetics. Though personally, I don't think either would work that well in context - the Covenant hasn't fallen apart yet, so the Preservation ministry sending forces seems unlikely (unless there was some background politics involved - like some Sangheili politicians feeling threatened by increased Jiralhanae influence on the military and convincing Preservation forces to reinforce the fleet as a pre-emptive measure in case the Jiralhanae rebel or something - or the need for troops was bad enough that they had to send troops even though it would be outside their jurisdiction), and the Ascetics are more religious police than military forces (though I guess that one could apply the same logic as with the Zealots - that they can handle traditional military tasks from time to time in addition to their special objectives). IMO, one of the other possibilities would be better, but I felt I should mention it just in case.

#We could always make it so Atsu is from a different fleet. However, the way I've plotted things so far, there's only the one fleet I've introduced already that's involved for most of the campaign (except possibly a few weeks later when the Great Schism breaks out). I hadn't really expected this to be very large scale, so it seemed enough - I felt more fleets might have made things needlessly cluttered. And it doesn't seem like any of the other users that contributed to the original DIVINE SON are active anymore, so unless you know someone else who you think would really like to contribute, I'd prefer to not bring in too many elements into the mix at once.

So, my personal recommendation would be 1 or 2. Though since I'm a <s>wallflower</s> nice guy, I like to know what my colleagues think before I act :) Oh, and sorry for the wall of text...

Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one who's a connoisseur of Disney films around here. And let me know if you finish that lion king series so I can check it out for myself :)}}

RE: IRC Conduct
Yeah I know. I'm out camping right now, hence my lack of activity this week. A
