Streetwear, sometimes called street style fashion includes the way people under the hip hop culture dress themselves. It consists of certain elements with each having their own meaning since there is history linked to the culture. We may well see such large clothing like baggy pants and large XXL t-shirts, more suitable to the practice of b-boying break dancing. Athletic shoes are, in the same way, an essential element in the panoply of the B-boy culture. The life of gangster criminals has also influenced street stylefashion: the bandana is sometimes taken from them as well. The absence of cords or belts that makes the pants fit below the waist is due to the life in prison, where every object at the risk of encouraging suicide was confiscated.

In 1976, in southern California where it remains unchanged, skateboarding forever shaped the sport, culture and style. Through this, Vision Street Wear arose. It was a different brand that quickly understood the natural connection between music and the skateboarding culture. In the championships organized by the brand, a previously unknown group called Red Hot Chili Peppers played. And in the ranks of professional skaters, big names like Mark “Gator” Rogowski, Steve Rocco, Marty “Jinx” Jimenez, and Mark Gonzales were included. By the early 90s, the influence of the brand’s aesthetics and philosophy began to decline due to the changes the skateboarding culture went through in that decade. Today, Vision Street Wear is a clothing company whose license is maintained by a company called the Collective Licensing International that is dedicated to sell shoes, skateboards, different accessories and retro-flavored vintage items.

Hip hop fashion is a distinctive style of dressing up, originating from the African-American youth on the streets of New York, Los Angeles, Orlando, Chicago, Philadelphia, the San Francisco Bay Area, Detroit, Memphis, Atlanta, Jersey City and Miami among others. Each city contributed various elements to its overall style seen worldwide today. Hip hop street style fashion complements the expressions and attitudes of the hip hop culture in general. Hip hop fashion has changed significantly during its history. And today, it is a prominent part of popular fashion as a whole across the world and all ethnicities.

In the East Coast, members of the hip hop community looked back to the gangsters of the 1930s and 1940s for inspiration. Mafiosi influences, especially and primarily inspired by the 1983 remake version of “Scarface,” became popular in hip hop. Many rappers put on gang-inspired clothing in favor of classic gangster fashion such as bowler hats, double-breasted suits, silk shirts, and alligator skin shoes. One sportswear trend that emerged in hip hop street style fashion was the rise in the popularity of throwback jerseys such as those produced by Mitchell & Ness. Sports jerseys have always been popular in hip hop fashion. The hip hop fashion trends of the 2000s were all over the place and changed constantly. During these years, there was a heavy celebrity influence among fashion trends. Hip Hop artists made brands like Gucci and Louis Vinton popular amongst the hip hop community, where most initially used hip hop as a way to a better life.

Throughout these years, many fashion trends from the 80s and early 90s were made popular again when we see the rebirth of the door knocker earrings and form fitting jeans for males. When the year ends, it is the perfect time to party and celebrate. The first thing that comes to mind is how to better handle your wardrobe to create the most effective and engaging get up on that joyful night. Winter has set in by this time, thus you need to put on something to keep you warm and cozy, and being stylish as your primary objective as well.

Street style fashion generally consists of denim jeans, cotton hooded jumpers, sweat shirts, jackets, fleece pullovers, half zip shirts, tees, full zip shirts, khakis, rain jackets and street shorts that are covered in the versatility of colors like black, gray, white or khaki. They have developed designs that are focused on the everyday look, the flagged urban look, the sexy and the glamorous. It is a natural and sophisticated style closely connected to the street style fashion that has evolved since the eighties trends of its fist incarnations, influenced by hip hop and B-boy culture, to its approach to other fads like punk, glam rock and even the neo-gothic. It may also have an approach to urban tribes as embodied in the use of leather, military boots, cowboy clothes or bags in black with colorful zippers.
