Hairstyles for Medium Length Hair is Cause for Many Misunderstandings
Hairstylists everywhere tune in carefully to a customer who mentions a style or haircut for medium length hair. Way back when I was in cosmetology school I was told that a medium length hair cut was a style that the length is below the ears but does not yet touch the shoulders. Any haircut that is shorter than the ear lobes would be considered “Short” and a haircut that the length touches the shoulders would be considered “Long” those that end between the earlobes and the shoulder would be considered “Medium”. One look at any medium hair boards on Pinterest reveals how much confusion there is out there. That being said here are some of my favorite hairstyles for medium length hair:
The Bob
The midi bob is always classy, easy to maintain and highly versatile.
The Low Bun
While buns have largely been reserved for more formal events, pulling the hair back into a low bun is also great for a casual, yet romantic evening out. Pin the bun on either side for an updated look, and allow a few strands to frame the face for look of casual sophistication.
Medium length hairstyle with face framing fringe
Face framing fringe is romantic, flirty and flattering. Loose, effortless curls complete the look.
Making Waves
Medium length waves give the hair a very full appearance, creating head-turning style that’s perfect for casual days… or any day!
Ombre, Ombre!
Slightly curly locks that fade from dark to light…. sexy, sexy! Ombre, ombre!
The Shag
Choppy layers and effortless styling give the always stylish mid-length shag just the right amount of edge.
The Messy Braid
Of course, braids are wildly popular now. This year, opt for a styled to one side but with just enough “messy” to give it a flirty, feminine and effortless vibe.
Ultra-Straight Mid-Length Locks
These sleek, ultra-straight, single-length locks are feminine, flattering and definitely on trend.
