Montreal Canadiens Links
Despite playing a critical role in Saturday's 3-2 overtime victory over the Florida Panthers, Alex Galchenyuk refused to take a day off on Sunday. The 20 goal scorer was the only top six forward on the ice during Sunday's optional skate. [TVA]
Injured defenseman Tom Gilbert was also on the ice yesterday, and appears to be nearing a return the lineup. [La Presse]
One of the big questions with the potential return of Gilbert is: Who will he take out of the lineup? Greg Pateryn is certainly giving Michel Therrien something to think about. The 24-year-old has been a solid addition to the lineup since being recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs. [Canadiens]
Pateryn was praised for his strong play, as well as giving the team an emotional boost after his big hit on Jimmy Hayes early in Saturday's game. [The Gazette]

Arizona Coyotes captain Shane Doan will not be suspended for the awkward hit that left Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang concussed. The injury is a big blow to an already depleted Penguins D core. [Puck Daddy]
Remember Andre Deveaux? Me neither. But the former Toronto Maple Leafs tough guy should be suspended for life after delivering a ridiculously uncalled for and vicious slash during warmups for a playoff game in Sweden. [Sportsnet]
Alex Ovechkin scored his 48th and 49th goals of the year to lead the Washington Capitals to a 5-2 victory over the New York Rangers, which is good news for the Habs in their quest for first place in the Eastern Conference. [Jaspers' Rink]
