THE ‘Mash Day’ Gospel Fest is a perennial event which features the biggest names in local and regional gospel entertainment, all on one night. This year will be no different, with Trinidadian Gospel Reggae star, Joel “Positive” Murray set to touch down here a second year running for the much-anticipated event, billed for Mash Night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Homestretch Avenue.

Although it was his first outing here when he shared the stage with Gospel veterans like DJ Nicholas and Sherwin Gardener last year, Positive’s thrilling performance left the crowd hungry for more, and forced the promoter to bring him back for this year’s edition, titled “Praise Under the Open Sky”.

It’s no secret to avid Gospel fans that Positive’s new hit album, ‘Stand & Be Counted’, recently debuted at Number 9 on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart. The album also debuted at Number One on the iTunes T&T national Top Albums chart, and peaked at Number 21 on the iTunes US Reggae Top Albums chart.

The prolific singer/songwriter/producer also walked away with eight awards (as the top honoree) at the 2014 Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards in Nassau, Bahamas, among them Song of The Year for “Blessing After Blessing”, and Album of The Year for “Forever My King”.

He is promising a major treat for Guyanese at the Mash Night concert, with a full-length album performance backed by his signature band.

Also carded for the night are Trinidadian Gospel Soca sensations, Jadee and Blessed Messenger, both of whom have been making waves across the region with their music.

They will share the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall stage with Guyana’s own leading Gospel Artists like Samuel Medas, Sean Sobers, Miriam Williams, Allan Petty, Joshua Joe, and the Redeemers, as well as some promising new faces like DiSi, Chakada Ralph among others.

Cordell McClure, promoter of the show, is promising a great time of praise and worship at the event, with international-quality marking Guyana’s 50th Independence.

“Those who were there last year know that we mean excellence,” McClure said, adding:

“Come out with your national colours and flags as we celebrate, Jesus style.”

The show will begin promptly at 19:00hrs, and will challenge the norm of “Come late, it won’t start on time”.

Tickets are $1500, and are available at Kester D’s Music Centre, M&M Snackette, Nigel’s Supermarket and many other outlets.
