… Celebrities oppose GBCA XI
ALL ROADS lead to the Malteenoes Sports Club ground today for the Guyana Blind Cricket Association (GBCA)-organised ‘Celebrities versus Blind and Visually Impaired Cricketers’ and fundraising Fish Fry from 12:00hrs.The event is aimed at raising funds to send players to Jamaica for the 2014 Regional Blind Cricket tournament from July 17 to -25 and tickets for fish and chips cost $1 000 each. Members of the public are asked to support wholeheartedly.
The Celebrity XI will include Linden ‘Jumbie’ Jones, Roger Harper, Alfred King, Luis Kumar, John Ramsingh, Ramesh Sunich, Adrian Smith, Neil Barry, Calvin Roberts, Sean Devers and former West Indies Blind Cricket coach Bharat Mangru.
Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago and a Developmental team, comprising seven players from Guyana and the Windward Islands, will compete in the Regional tournament, following which the West Indies selectors will pick a Regional squad to travel to South Africa in September after participating in a training camp in Barbados.
