Exciting stuff in the Sewing Bee last night huh?! Those little waistcoats were so cute. And the 3D costumes at the end were awesome, a well deserved garment of the week for Paul with that amazing elephant! It's always so sad to see anyone go and I think the really tight time lines got the better of Alex. I've no doubt she is a brilliant given a realistic, real life time scale to complete something.

If the Sewing Bee has got you in the mood for some sewing, then here are some ideas with the latest fabrics and patterns that have arrived in the shop recently.

Our wall of fabric is certainly starting to look very fresh and bright!

Lovely patterned Jerseys have always been a tough one for me to find but a bumper crop has just come in!

These are all really soft and drapey jersey fabrics! Just click on each picture to take you to the full details about it.

Pair them with the…..

Named KoKo Top

Named Selja Knot Tee

Colette Moneta Dress

Sewaholic Renfrew t-shirt

The Sew Over It Ultimate Wrap Dress

Or for the kiddos the Oliver + S Lunch Box Tea Dress

If you are still a little nervous about sewing with this type of fabric we have a NEW Overlocker Workshop that will give you a taster of using one of these super cool and quick machines while making a lovely Moneta Dress of Mabel Skirt. We have two dates available, which you can check out in this link.

My personal favourite fabric of late is this really snuggly sweatshirt type fabric.

It has this fine detailed floral print on the outside and the softest fluffiest fleece on the inside. It’s the first time we have had something like this and as soon as it came in I had cut myself a piece and wrapped it round me like a blanket! Ahhhh!

I’ve since stitched it up into a Grainline Linden Sweatshirt (I did the boxy version with no sleeve or bottom cuff) which I’ll tell you all about next week (the neck band was a bit of a issue for me).

On the subject of Grainline Patterns I’m so pleased that we are now a stockist and have their printed patterns…..

The Linden Sweatshirt (as above)

The Alder Shirt Dress

The Archer Button Up Shirt

The Cascade Duffle Coat

We are also now stocking a range of fabrics from Cotton + Steel. If you haven’t come across these fabrics before prepare to get excited!

These are an amazing and epic range of fabrics designed by the most amazing collaboration of ladies  - Melody Miller, Rashida Coleman-Hale, Alexia Abegg, Kim Kight and Sarah Watts. The passion behind these chicas for what they do it totally inspiring! You should check out the video of their story on the Cotton + Steel Website (link here). It gave me goose pimples! I love it when there is a real, ture and meaningful story behind something.

Click on any picture below to read the story of that print.

All of their quirky prints are designed to work together, as well as individually and they come of several different base cloths. We have a beautifully soft cotton lawn, a medium weight cotton that works well for clothing and other projects such as quilting and accessories and also a gorgeous cotton and linen mix.

You can find all of our new delights in the ‘Just Arrived’ section of the website (and the cotton + steel fabrics in this link). We keep it up to date as deliveries come in so it’s a good place to check into when you want to see the latest stuff.
