August sets a record for the most commutations granted in a single month as President Obama commuted the sentences of 111 more federal prisoners Tuesday.
At the beginning of the month, 214 men and women had their sentences commuted, putting August’s total 325. Compared to other presidents, Obama has commuted more sentences than the past 10 presidents combined with 673.
None of the 111 prisoners were convicted of violent charges, however, 16 had been convicted of gun charges, mostly felony possession and possession while trafficking drugs.
