I had some projects I was working on for SCGMC but then, in the last couple weeks before the competition, I realized there was no way they were going to be ready, so I made a last-minute change of plans and decided to build my Leynos kit:

1:35 Assault Suit Leynos

I chose this kit because it's got relatively simple construction and paint scheme. I felt like, even under the limited time available, I could probably paint it desert yellow and do some nice weathering and chipping effects, and have a decent finished model to show. Of course, I started it only a week before the show (and less than a week before my flight), so ultimately it didn't work out, but that's OK, I did good work on the project and now that I'm not under the gun I think the rest of the work on the project will be even better.

Unrealistic as the one-week rush may be for me, I'm really happy that it got me working with this kit. I had thought of saving the kit for later, making a video of the build, but I had a really great time with this kit. Sometimes it just feels really good to build something not by Bandai. I love the proportions of the Leynos, too - kind of like a Scopedog with the really stout legs. You don't get that on Bandai kits (even the Bandai Scopedog, sadly...)
