Gulf Coast Songwriter Shootout - Celebrity Round
Sunday - 7:30 - October 25th
Hot Spot Music & Grub
-------
The Gulf Coast Songwriter Shootout is hosting a special “Celebrity Songwriter Round" with the 2015 Shootout Judges on Oct 25th at the Hot Spot Music & Grub. Hit Songwriters Brett Jones, Travis Meadows and Lynn Langham will judge the 2015 Gulf Coast Songwriter Shootout finale and perform for this intimate songwriter concert.

Brett Jones is responsible for seven No.1 billboard country chart songs such as ”Crazytown,” by Jason Aldean, “That’s How Country Boys Roll,” by Billy Currington , “ If Heaven Wasn’t so Far Away,” by Justin Moore and many more. He has over 1,400 published songs and over 150 of Jones songs have been featured on major label recordings.

Travis Meadows is the current go-to-songwriter for many top country artists. His recent hits include “What We Ain’t Got,”’ by Jake Owens, and “The Riser,” by Dierks Bentley(the title track from the album) along with cuts by Eric Church (“Dark Side.” on The Outsiders album), Ronnie Dunn, Frankie Ballard. Lee Ann Womack, Blackberry Smoke, etc etc. Travis Meadows is also an amazing artist and his critically acclaimed album“Killin’ Uncle Buzzy,” is considered by his country music peers to be one of the greatest albums of all time.

Musical luminaries from every style, notably by Wynonna, Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Trisha Yearwood, Elizabeth Cook, and Carolyn Hester, have recorded Lynn Langham’s songs. Her song, “Old Yellow Moon”, (written with Hank DeVito) was the titlecut of Harris and Crowell’s Grammy winning duet album in 2014. It was also namedAlbum of the Year at the 2013 Americana Music Awards. Lynn has shared the stage with legends like John Prine, Asleep At The Wheel, Larry Gatlin, Leon Redbone and Cheechand Chong.

Bo Roberts was born in Chester, Arkansas. At the age of eleven, he met Buddy Holly and promptly went off to buy a guitar. His first paying job was with John Fogerty. For three years, he as the lead guitar and band leader for Hank Williams, Jr. Roberts also played lead guitar for Gene Watson. During that time, he cowrote the #1 hit "You're Out Doing What I'm Here Doing Without" for Watson. In 1990, Willie Nelson released Roberts' "Ten with a Two" as a single off his "Born for Trouble" album. In 2008, Kenny Chesney cut the song for his "Lucky Old Sun" album. There is even an award-winning drink called "10 with a 2" created by the master bartender at Chesney's rum company launched in 2013. Roberts cowrote the title song on Jamey Johnson's 2012 Grammy nominated album "Living for a Song". Roberts is honored to have had Johnson and country music legends Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, and Hank Cochran each sing a verse of the song on the album. Over the years, Roberts has been recognized for his catchy song titles. He is included in the book, "Country Music's Most Wanted" in the chapter "Catch Phrase Songs". Early in his career, he had songs cut by Rose Maddox, Stoney Edwards and several others.

Army soldier, police detective and Bourbon Street performer are just a few of the job titles on Matt Hoggatt’s resume. Since being introduced to the national stage in 2012 by Jimmy Buffett which led to a record deal, Matt has been sharing his blend of Americana-comedy, trop-rock-country, folk-rap, mainstream-music, protest songs with the world the old fashioned way; one man, with one guitar. Matt has worked with musical greats including Mac McAnally, Paul Thorn, Ronnie McDowell, Confederate Railroad and Keith Sykes. You can find out more at www.matthoggatt.com
