With NCsoft and ArenaNet currently looking after the hordes of faithful fans and visitors at gamescom, there is no better place to start a big human challenge. Therefore we are proud to present you a charity initiative sponsored by NCsoft and ArenaNet that will take place while you'll be all enjoying gamescom's madness. At the centre of our efforts is GamesAid, a UK video games industry based charity that supports multiple youth based charities that are nominated and selected for funding by members of the games industry.
Last year NCsoft's European Communications Director, Cat Channon and journalist Nathan Irvine from Games Radar cycled from Cologne to NCsoft's European offices in Brighton-UK in three days (Sat, Sun, Mon) raising £2,461 for GamesAid.
This year, the challenge is up again but this time with a group of ten people! They will be riding 352 (over 500k) miles, cycling 10 to 15 hours a day for three days closely followed by a support vehicle provided by the PR agency Indigo Pearl.
This year's novelty is that we'll track the team giving you updates of their progress on our Social Media channels encouraging you to support them and GamesAid! Anyone who goes along Germany, France or UK to show their support in person will get a limited edition of a Guild Wars 2 exclusive in-game item from NCsoft team member Cat Channon herself! So check out their itinerary as they might be passing nearby your hometown!
You can already show your support to our cyclist via their fundraising page:https://www.justgivi...ecyclechallenge
There's going to be tears, sweat and maybe even blood, it's going to be tough but fun and it's a small challenge in comparison to the day to day struggles faced by many of the children who GamesAid supports.
So please join us in wishing the team lots of charresque courage!
A big THANK YOU to anyone who'll support this initiative by giving money or by showing up and cheering the riders on their way, you rock!
