Avenue of Stars is a waterfront promenade at Tsim Sha Tsui coast of Hong Kong, adjacent to Hong Kong Museum of Art. It is built for praising exceptional people (actors, directors, singers or screenwriters etc.) who made great contributions to Hong Kong film industry. The avenue is modeled after the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

It is themed with Hong Kong movie development history and accomplishment with displaying about 70 movie celebrities’ tablets. 30 handprints of those artists (such as Michelle Yeoh, Jackie Chan and Andy Lau) are inlaid in the sidewalk. A Bruce Lee statue, posing his famous style in martial arts, is also set here and it attracts lots of tourists.

What to See/Do:

At the entrance of the avenue is a bronze woman statue which is the Hong Kong Film Awards and a small stage for performces. Along the avenue are refreshment kiosks, souvenir stands, and other sculptures related to movies and benches for rest. Wandering on Avenue of Stars, you can enjoy the wonderful scenery of Victoria Harbor, spectacular skyscrapers alongside Hong Kong Island and performance of A Symphony of Lights to the fullest. Besides, you can take numerous selfies with the bronze statue of Bruce Lee, martial arts superstar in Hong Kong. The area is perfect for doing exercise, taking pictures with family and friends, or just watching the passing boats and the skylines.

An important tip: The Avenue of Stars is closed for renovation from Oct. 8, 2015 to the end of 2018. A substitute called “the garden of stars” in an overpass across the street from the Avenue of Stars has been established for visitors but many complain that it’s not the same feeling without the Victoria Harbour in the background of the photos.
