The Saint Mary’s College men’s basketball program will retire the familiar number “13” worn by guard Patrick Mills in a special halftime ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 21 when the Gaels host Gonzaga University at McKeon Pavilion.

Currently a member of the reigning NBA champion San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association, Mills will attend the ceremony during the team’s West Coast road trip. The Spurs play at Golden State Friday night and will remain in the area until they travel to Salt Lake City for a Monday night game at Utah.

Next week's game against Gonzaga is currently sold out, but the athletic department expects to sell standing room tickets prior to the game. In addition, Mills will take part in the athletic department’s annual Car Drawing prior to Saturday’s game.

“Clearly, Patty Mills is one of the elite student-athletes this program has ever seen,” said SMC head coach Randy Bennett. “Patty is one of the College’s greatest ambassadors and provides visibility for Saint Mary’s every time he steps on the court, whether it is for the San Antonio Spurs or in international competition for Australia.
