Hi,

After acquiring a set of Bee*R stainless downpipes for the 32 and seeing what a state they were in I thought there is no way I could fit them to the car seeing as though the rest of the system is mint, I decided to set to them with minimal tools, space and time!

Below you can see what state they turned up in, I suppose this would put a lot of people off buying but rest assured they can be revived with a surprisingly small amount of effort and toolage!

Tools/equipment to hand:

1. 3M general purpose scotch brite pad.

2. Bottle of glass cleaner.

3. BBQ cleaning brush (bronze brushes).

4. 1x tube of Autosol metal polish.

5. Workmate bench.

6. Bucket of washing up liquid/water mix.

7. A couple of old cotton t shirts.

So start off washing down the pipes with washing up liquid and water mix, after this set to it with a good spray of glass cleaner and rubbing down with the scouring pad, it's surprising how quick the old staining and general crap comes of the pipework. After a good rub down wash off the detritus again in the bucket and you will see how the pipes are already starting to shine with no/minimal scratching on the surface.

After working your way round with the pad and repeating the spray of glass cleaner to give it some lube the crud lifts away. In the more stubborn areas around the welds the BBQ brush did the trick and this also worked nicely on the flanges, I could also utilise the scraper on the brush to take off the old gasket paste.

Once you are happy let it dry (ideal tea break) then you can get cracking with the Autosol, apply a bit over the area with a light spread all over then you can loop your cloth around the pipe and give it some polish, this soon brings it up to a nice scratch free shiny finish and you can keep going to your hearts content if you wish for a super bright finish!

As you can see below the finished item is certainly better than I started out with and I'm not ashamed to be putting it on my car for just over an hours worth of work....with no power tools.

Of course you can bypass this process and fit a brand new system or wait for Bobby to get his act together and start knocking up some lovely quality Ti goodness @ Zealou5!

Enjoy! :smokin:
