The Peak District does not seem to generate the same sort of following that you see for the more ‘glamorous’ of the National Parks, such as the Yorkshire Dales or the Lake District, but it is a fantastic area in its own right, and a visit cannot be too highly recommended There are numerous viewpoints for the landscape photographer to ply his (or her) trade.

Bamford Edge, overlooking Ladybower Reservoir, is one, and it is easily accessible. Head up there for sunset and, if the light is right, a great image is guaranteed.

For anyone thinking of heading out that way, the Photographers Guide to The Peak District is highly recommended. I was out every day, mostly in the evenings, visiting the locations in this guide – I only had a few days so I had to make the most of my time.
