First time land speed racing for me, for some of our team and our car, a 1978 Pontiac Firebird affectionately named "Furious Bird". as a team, we progressed from being a rookie to now holding an "A" license. this licenses allows us to drive up to 250 mph at Bonneville Speedway. we drove on all four course during the week. top speed achieved was 201.364 mph. the car is powered by a 358" sbc, about 850 hp.
what an awesome experience. this was a total team effort. met a bunch of nice racer people there and officials who are all volunteers. as you may imagine, we are looking forward to next year when I think we have a good chance at approaching or surpassing the record of slightly over 220 mph.
