1. Prince Edward Island: Situated to the north of Nova Scotia in North Atlantic Ocean, it is the smallest island of Canada. This province has maximum population density. Its capital is ‘Charlottetown’. It is a commercial centre for developed agricultural land and agricultural products.

2. Hawaiian Islands: It is situated in North Pacific Ocean, in which there are 8 big and 15 small uninhabited islands. It became 50th State of U.S.A. in 1959. ‘Mt. Kea (4205M.) is its highest peak which is an active volcano. Tourists come here in large numbers. Sugarcane and Pineapple are cultivated here. Its capital is ‘Honolulu’.

3. Bahamas Island: It is a group of islands in Atlantic Ocean. Andore is the largest island, having maximum population. Here many island are called ‘heaven for Snakes’. Tourism is the main industry. Catching fish is second major occupation. Fruits and vegetables are cultivated here on a large scale. Impact of ‘Hurricanes’ can be seen here.

4. Florida Keys: It is located to the south of Miami in North Atlantic Ocean. It is a group of small coral islands. It is a region of sponge production, which is base of sponge industry there.

5. Galapagos Islands: It is a island in Pacific Ocean situated on Equator, this archipelago is the territory of Ecuador. It is a volcanic island, where Darwin carried out exhaustive study. World’s largest island, where maximum concentration of Tortoise are found. These island are rich in biodiversity.

6. Diego Garcia Islands: Located in Indian Ocean, it is a volcanic island. It was given by Britain to U.S.A. U.S.A. has developed its Seventh Naval Base here. It has great strategic importance. An Air Force and Naval Force base Is also here. On this island, U.S.A. has installed Atomic missiles in large numbers. It is fully equipped with Atomic weapons and provides decisive advantage to the United States to command the areas of south-west Asia, central Asia, south-east Asia and south Asia.

7. Greenland Island: Administered by Denmark located between North Atlantic Ocean and Arctic Ocean, it is world’s largest island. Openlayers of ‘Greenstone’ are seen on this island, which are the oldest rocks of the Earth. This island has permanent ice sheets. Geographically, it is part of North America, but politically, it is part of Europe. Nuuk is its capital and important city.

8. Zanzibar and Pemba Is.: Located in Indian Ocean, these are islands of Tanzania. These two island are largest producers of Clove in the world. There are large Clove farms situated here.

9. Antilles: This is a group of islands forming the greater part of West Indies. The Greater Antilles, extending roughly east of west, comprise Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, the lesser Antilles, to the south east, includes the Virgin Islands, Leeward Island, Windward Island and various small islands.

10. Sakhalin Island: This island located in Pacific Ocean is administered by Russia. Tatar Strait separates it from Asian mainland. It is made by volcanic activity. It is rich in petroleum resources. It has graves of Japanese soldiers, which is a cause of dispute between Russia and Japan.

11. Shetland Island: located in North Atlantic Ocean and it is an island group of Britain. World’s smallest horses are found on this island. 100 islands are included in it.

12. Novaya Zemlya Islands: It is an Island of Russia located in Arctic Ocean. The name of these islands means ‘New Land”. This island always remains covered with ice. Russia dumps its nuclear waste on this island. There are immense possibilities of mineral oil in the nearby regions. In the summer season some of the Russian fisherman come here to catch the Whale and Cod and to obtain other marine resources.

13. Bikini Island: It is located near Marshall Island in Pacific Ocean, which is made of coral. In 1946, France carried out its nuclear test on this island. France conducted many nuclear test here tell 1990. At present, this island has been submerged.

14. Gotland Island: Located in Baltic Sea, it is an island of Sweden. It is also Sweden’s important port.

15. Madagascar (Malagasy): Located in Indian Ocean, it is the fourth largest of the world after Greenland, New Guinea and Borneo. Along with reserves of Graphite and Chromite, it is important for Mica, Nickel and Copper. It has dense forests. World’s maximum Vanila is produced here. The eastern part of Madagascar receives about 300 cm of rainfall annually.

16. Bahrain Island: It is a small, beautiful island located in Persian Gulf. It is also called ‘Pearl of Persian Gulf’. It is a group of 25 islands. It is known for precious stones, petroleum and natural gas. It has maximum population density among the Gulf countries.

17. Borneo (Kalimantan) Island: Located in Pacific Ocean, it is the largest island of South Asia and third largest island of the world. It is shared between three countries, viz. Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei. It is rich in mineral oil, Tin etc. Dayak tribe lives here. It is covered by Tropical Rainforests. Timber is exported from here to Japan.

18. Stewart Island: Located in Pacific Ocean, it is an island of New Zealand. It is separated from South Island by Foveaux Strait. Sheep breeding is a main occupation of this island. The weather is generally stormy on this island.

19. White Island: It is located in Bay of Plenty, which is administered by New Zealand. It is located on ‘Ring of Fire’. Continuous smokes comes out from it.

20. Great Barrier Island: Situated to north-east of Auckland (New Zealand), it is a coral formation in the South Pacific Ocean. It is rich in biodiversity.

21. Shikoku Island: Located to the south of Honshu Island and it the smallest of the four large islands of Japan. Shikoku has an undulated and mountainous topography. It is relatively less densely populated. Its coastal plains are used for the cultivation of Rice, Mulberry, Fruits and Vegetables.

22. Falkland Islands: Located in South Atlantic Ocean, these are British administered islands. It has reserves of mineral oil and natural gas. These islands have a windy climate with long bleak winter of much snow. Argentina and Britain have concluded a war for the occupancy of these islands.

23. Bermuda Island: It is an island located in North Atlantic Ocean, which is administered by United Kingdom. It is a coral island. ‘Palm trees’ are found on it in large numbers. Tourism is the base of its economy. Tourists come here in large numbers.

24. Cyprus Island: Located in Mediterranean Sea and is the third largest island of Mediterranean Sea. It is an example of plate subduction. This island is mainly mountainous. Todus and Kirenia are two mountain ranges located here. Citrus fruits are produced here in huge amount.

25. Azores Island: it is located in North Atlantic Ocean on Mid-Oceanic Ridge. It is made by volcanic activity. It is administered by Portugal. Its capital is Ponta Delgada. It is Naval and Air Force base of Portugal.

26. Tasmania Island: It is located in North Atlantic Ocean and Pacific, it is an island and centrally administered region of Australia. This island has developed drainage system, which used for hydel power production. Apples are produced here in large amount. Its capital is ‘Hobart’.

27. Wrangel Island: Located between east Siberian Sea and chukchi Sea, it is an Island of Russia. ‘Delang Strait’ separated if rom mainland. This rocky island is known as the breeding land for seals and polar Bear.

28. Trinidad-Tobago Is.: There are a volcanic Islands located in Northern Atlantic Ocean. People of Indian origin reside on these islands in large number. It is amongst the oldest oil producing countries of the world. Tourism is the base of its economy. Sugarcane, Coffee and Rubber are produced here.

29. Spratly and Paracel Island: Located in South China Sea, these are an atoll island group. Both these island are rich in mineral oil resources. Due to this many countries have a claim on it, like- Vietnam, China, Indonesia, Malaysia etc.

30. St. Helena Island: It is located to the west of Africa in South Atlantic Ocean. This island is made by volcanic activity. Napoleon was deported to this island and he died here.

31. Martinique: situated in Caribbean Sea, it is a volcanic island in the Lesser Antilles. The eruption of ‘Mount Pelee’ in 1902 destroyed the greater part of this island. The main industries of Martinique Island include petroleum refining, chemical, rum-manufacturing, furniture and food processing.

32. Frisian Islands: This is Chain Island in the North Sea off the coast of Denmark, Germany and Netherlands. It is groups of islands which extend from the Wadden Sea to Jutland Peninsula of Denmark. Its high breed of cow is known for high milk production. The main economic activities of the people of these islands are dairying, fishing, cattle-raising and tourism.

33. Socotra Island: Located on Chagos- Socotra Ridge in Indian Ocean, it is an island of Yemen. It is located to the south-east of the entrance of Gulf of Yemen. It is very important strategically, on which U.S. troops are deployed in large numbers.

34. Tuvalu Islands: A small island country located in West part of Pacific Ocean, which is made of a series of lowland coral islands. These islands spread upto 600 km in length. Funafuti Atoll, which is the largest atoll in the world is located here, which is also country’s capital.

37. Corsica Island: Located in Mediterranean Sea, this island is administered by France. It has originated due to collision of African and Eurasian plates. Very old igneous rocks are found on it. Evidences of ice-age are found on it. It is the birthplace of great warrior ‘Napoleon’. Tourists come here in large numbers, because the beaches here are very beautiful and clean. 39. Ryukyu Islands: Located in North Pacific Ocean, it is a series of islands. This comprises of –Agami Island group in the North, Okinawa Island group in the Middle and Sakishima Island group in the South. Cattle breeding and agriculture are major economic activities. Here Sugarcane, Banana, Maize and Potato are highly produced. Its deep coasts facilities the export of crude oil and petroleum products to different parts of the world. Many lagoons and sand beaches are also located here. U.S.A. performs its nuclear test on Bikini Atoll and Enewetak Atoll. This island has strategic importance, where on Kwajalein Atoll, U.S.A. has installed a large number of missiles. More than half of the population lives on ‘Majuro Atoll’. It is a very large atoll.

88. Phuket Island: Located to the west of Kra Peninsula, it is a largest Island of Thailand in Indian Ocean. It is country’s major tourist spot. Thousands of international tourists, especially Europeans, Japanese and Americans visit Phuket Throughout the year. Tin is also found here. This island was damaged due to Tsunami in 2004.
