Animal lovers and furry friends alike, rejoice! The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) has been named the Brand Champion of Lessing-Flynn's 2016 Battle of the Brands competition.
Lessing-Flynn's Battle of the Brands recognizes top Iowa brands through bracket-style elimination voting. This year 32 Iowa brands were nominated by their fans or selected to participate in the competition, which began mid-August. The final four also included the Iowa State Fair, Kum & Go and Pizza Ranch, but it was ultimately the ARL that pulled through for the win in the final round against the Iowa State Fair.
"It's an honor to win this competition," said Tom Colvin, Executive Director for the ARL. "We have great fans on social media who supported us, voting and encouraging others to vote, too."
The ARL will receive Brand Champion bragging rights, a snazzy commemorative plaque and $5,000 in marketing support from Lessing-Flynn to donate to the charity of their choosing - in this instance, they have elected to use the marketing services for their own nonprofit organization. Talk about a win-win!
"The Animal Rescue League of Iowa does fantastic things for the metro and the state," said Tom Flynn, Lessing-Flynn President. "We're excited to donate our marketing support to create more awareness and exposure for their organization."
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa cares for thousands of pets each year as the state's largest nonprofit animal shelter. While they are known for their pet adoption programs, they also provide education, pet behavior training, spay/neuter services, animal cruelty intervention and more.
Previous Battle of the Brands winners and their charities include Farmers Mutual Hail supporting the Flaughless 5k benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project, Scratch Cupcakery supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Iowa, Blank Park Zoo, and Simpson College supporting Children and Family Urban Movement. Principal Financial Group and the Iowa Clinic won during the first two years of the competition
