Throughout more than 55 years of ministry, Billy Graham has preached gospel messages to more than 215 million people in more than 185 countries across the globe.
The barn-shaped Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina, reflects the journey of Billy Graham’s life, from a farm boy to an evangelical Christian well known for his rallies and sermons broadcasted on radio and television.
During a visit to the library, students will learn that Graham was a spiritual adviser to several presidents, including Dwight D. Eisenhower, Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon. And when Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested for demonstrations in the 1960s, Graham bailed him out of jail. To explore such history, student groups can uncover 40,000 square feet of interactive exhibits, audio and video displays, and memorabilia.

“Students will learn about how God used Billy Graham to reach thousands with a message of hope during pivotal moments in history, including the tumultuous Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, the height of the Cold War, conflicts in Vietnam and Korean, and the Sept. 11 attacks,” said Lisa Moseley, public relations specialist at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. “Beyond the exhibit space, the library offers interactive lesson plans, original source materials and take-home items for student groups to amplify their experience.”
Tours begin and end with multimedia presentations to lay a foundation for what students will encounter in the exhibits.
“Our goal is that students will leave not only with a deeper comprehension of 21st-century history, but a profound understanding of spiritual life,” Moseley said.
Although the library does not allow outside food on its property, students may eat at the Graham Brothers Dairy Bar, perfect for groups. Students enjoy eating outside on the covered patio. Meal vouchers are available upon request. Motorcoach parking is available at no cost.
