Operations

Ensure the Museum/ Information Center is open and staffed during posted hours of operation.

Train, schedule, Museum and Information Center employees and Volunteers necessary for the operation of the Museum.

Capture, record, and report accurate visitation counts and other metrics necessary for assessing the success of the Museum in achieving its mission.

Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of the building, grounds and exhibits and displays.

Oversee the production of all Museum events and manage the Museum’s annual calendar of events.

Maintain documented “practices and procedures” manual of Museum operations in the event of the Manager’s absence.

Ensure Museum compliance with all regulations, laws, and local ordinances in the daily operation of the Museum and its events.

Assist the City council member over Museum on other duties as may be assigned.

Fundraising and Development

Work with City Council and Museum Boards to implement and execute goals and events for the generation of individual and corporate sponsorships.

Assist with developing and implementing an annual calendar of events for fundraising, mission-essential activities, and membership-driven activities.

Assist with developing and growing a membership base.

Maintain current and accurate data on all donors and members.

Marketing and Public Relations

Implement and execute marketing strategies and tactics for the  purpose of promoting the Museum events and visitor attractions,

Produce and coordinate all written communications to constituents (e-mails, letters, press releases, exhibit descriptions, etc.) that are of professional, error-free quality.

Promote the Museum and its activities through effective and efficient means of public relations media outlets.

Deliver well-designed public presentations about the Museum to outside groups interested in learning about the Museum and its mission.

Work schedule 30 to 40 hours a week some weekends and holidays will be required for this position.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Museum studies or equivalent experience.

Skill and Abilities Desired:

Strong organizational, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills are mandatory, including speaking before small and large groups

Highly self-motivated, team player

Innovative and creative thinker

Must have good computer skills

Development and grant writing experience (helpful, but not required)

Media experience (helpful, but not required)

Compensation based on qualifications and precious experience with a 3 month evaluation.
