Halloween is just around the corner and people across the United States are looking for the perfect costume to scare their friends or just have some fun. Greek Reporter has prepared a list of simple Greek-inspired costumes that impress.

Greek Goddess
There are many variations on a Greek Goddess costume, some generic, some more specific, like going as “Athena” or “Aphrodite.” Short, long, white and gold, or with a touch of blue, dressing in this outfit is one way to have the rest of the costumes bow down to your inner Goddess.

Zeus

In the Ancient Greek religion, Zeus ruled Mount Olympus and was the sky and thunder god, as well as the “Father of Gods and men.” Zeus was the child of Cronus and Rhea, and the youngest of his siblings. He is known for his erotic escapades, which resulted in many godly and heroic offspring, including Athena, Apollo and Artemis, Hermes, Persephone (by Demeter), Dionysus, Perseus, Hercules, Helen of Troy, Minos, and the Muses; by Hera, he is usually said to have fathered Ares, Hebe and Hephaestus.

Hades
If you wish to unleash Hell on Halloween, going as Hades, the ancient Greek God of the Underworld, is one way to do it. As ruler of the dead, Hades was feared in ancient times. So what better costume to scare your friends with on Halloween night? You will only need dark-colored clothes, decorated with flames and a staff to scare off any lost souls wandering the streets on October 31.

King Leonidas
The Greek hero and King of Sparta, Leonidas is believed to be a descendant of Hercules and is well-known for his leadership in the Battle of Thermopylae, which ultimately influenced the film “300.” Make sure you have a red cape and a real or drawn six-pack and you are ready to party.

Ephialtes
Ephialtes was the man who betrayed his homeland, in hope of receiving some kind of reward from the Persians in the Battle of Thermopylae. He was such a notorious man that his name now means nightmare in the Greek language.

Medusa
They say that all who gaze upon Medusa turn to stone. You’ll be drop dead gorgeous in an elaborately detailed Medusa costume that includes an ornate snake headpiece. This will definitely be a standout at any Halloween party/event and no one will be able to keep their eyes off of you.

Calibos
Calibos, from the Clash of Titans, is the son of the goddess Thetis in The Clash of the Titans, known for his hideous face and the enslavement of Andromeda.

Hercules
Hercules was a divine hero in Greek mythology, the son of Zeus and Alcmene, foster son of Amphitryon and great-grandson (and half-brother) of Perseus. He was the greatest of the Greek heroes, a paragon of masculinity, the ancestor of royal clans who claimed to be Heracleidae and a champion of the Olympian order against chthonic monsters. Extraordinary strength, courage, ingenuity, and sexual prowess were among his characteristic attributes. Together with Hermes he was the patron and protector of gymnasia and palaestrae. His iconographic attributes are the lion skin and the club.
