Eden Brown are currently recruiting for a full time Adults Social Worker for the Sensory social worker team, this role will be based in Manchester and is to start ASAP and it is to run for one month.
I am looking for candidates that specialises in working with people who are Deaf/Hard of hearing, recognising the issues that a Deaf person may face in regards to isolation and communication barriers, and have a good understanding of the Deaf culture. Enhanced CRB and HCPC registration in addition the candidates must possess or be studying British Sign language Level 2 or a NVQ Level British Sign Language as recognised by Signature or be a native British Sign Language user.
The social worker should also have an in-depth knowledge of Visual Impairment.
The Specialist social worker placed within the Sensory Team would manage and address the following issues;

To support customers whom are profoundly Deaf and use British Sign Language as a First language recognizing the complexity of being Deaf and the Deaf culture is understood.

To support customers who have a visual impairment or a combined sensory loss recognizing the complexities of being visually impaired and how this may affect their independence, health and well-being.

To identify the social care needs of Deaf, visually impaired and Deaf-blind individuals and carers to determine the eligibility of needs within the Council Fair Access to Care Services criteria.

To support the customer to plan and organize the support that a Deaf person may need recognizing the complexities of communication and to monitor and review the support that is put in place.

To recognize and/or identify risks and alert the Sensory Team manager to any potential risk situations especially in regards to ‘Whole Family' informing and working alongside Children Services and producing risk management plans.

To co-ordinate and lead on investigating allegations of abuse and protecting Vulnerable adults whom are Deaf, visually impaired or Deaf-blind from harm and exploitation and co-ordinate a multi-agency approach to safeguarding investigation and preventative strategies.

To contribute to the development of an agreed protection plan for any vulnerable adult and to carry out interventions as are deemed necessary to promote the safety and protection of that adult recognising the overlaying needs of the Deaf, visually impaired or Deaf-blind customer.

Must be registered with the HCPC.

Hourly rate £20-£25.
