Salary: £35,986 - £43,810 per annum depending on experience
Contract Type: Fixed term for 12 months (maternity cover)

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Advice and Welfare Benefits Team Manager. The purpose of the role is to develop the clients approach to delivering advice and welfare benefits services to sustain tenancies. You will also be responsible to manage and lead a team of advisors to help mitigate the risks of the welfare reform for both the residents and the organisation in the coming years.
As the successful candidate you will be responsible for all aspects of staff management, i.e. recruitment, training and development, target setting and performance management. You will also be responsible for the following:
Provide a range of advice and support services to customers which will enable them to sustain their tenancy
Provide a proactive training service for front line staff to enable them to provide basic support to residents
Develop evaluation systems to measure the business return on investment for the service
Establish strategic relationships with other agencies/government departments to anticipate and address support requirements and changes in service delivery
Keep up with legislative changes relating to advice, support and welfare benefits, informing the rest of the business. Identify, analyse, report on potential business impacts and provide a range of options and solutions
The ideal candidate will have...
Comprehensive and up to date knowledge of welfare benefits and the statutory framework in which they operate
Experience of managing welfare benefits and other support services impacting on resident’s housing
Experience of managing and leading a team, providing direction and guidance
Ability to identify the welfare benefit implications of and changes to, national and local government legislation and develop appropriate strategies and guidance notes in response
Excellent customer care, communication and presentation skills
