We are looking for an experienced and skilled Music teacher to join a thriving music department. The school is a smaller than average comprehensive school and has a strong and cohesive community.
The Key aspects of the role are:
Contribute to whole school direction and policy making through participation in subject leaders’ meetings and consultation processes
Create a strategic vision for the development of Music within the school context and share this vision effectively with subject colleagues
Be accountable for student performance in Music as evidenced in public examinations and internal teacher assessment
Ensure a good understanding of the department’s strengths and development needs
Monitor and evaluate the work of subject colleagues including classroom observation, work sampling, analysis of student performance and discussion with students
Support subject colleagues by observing, advising, team teaching, co-lesson planning mentoring, coaching and directing as appropriate
Ensure that all students taking Music experience appropriate challenge in learning
Develop assessment for learning so that all students, in broad terms know and understand their current levels of achievement and how to progress in the subject.
The skills and personal qualities required for this role are:
Qualified Teacher Status with a specialism in music
Strong classroom practice
Strong understanding of key issues in planning and delivery of a high quality music curriculum
Excellent understanding of range of effective pedagogical approaches for delivery of music
A willingness to contribute to the running of extra-curricular activities and school concerts/productions
Willingness to act as a form/house tutor and support students’ wider personal and social development
