PERMANENT FULL TIME SCHOOL ICT TECHNICIAN JOB IN AN OUTSTANDING SCHOOL IN CANTERBURY, KENT FOR SEPTEMBER 2013
Hays Education are working in partnership with an outstanding school in Canterbury to recruit a full time ICT Technician to start in September 2013. The school are looking for an experienced school ICT Technician to support the school’s Server Manager, the Head of IT services and the additional Technician’s.
As an ICT Technician for this school, you would be responsible for providing a high standard of support and technical expertise all users. You would be responsible for 50 servers across 2 server rooms, 2 ICT suites, 500 desktops and a number of laptops and iPad’s. You would also be required to provide complete knowledge back-up and assistance as required to the Server Manager.
AS AN ICT TECHNICIAN, YOUR ROLE WILL INCLUDE:
Provision of second and third line helpdesk support
Assisting Server Manager with installing, maintaining and upgrading domain servers, SANs, Exchange, DNS and DHCP
Providing full back up to the Server Manager, in terms of being able to duplicate his knowledge and cover in his absence
Assisting the Server Manager with fault diagnosis within all server systems
Assisting the Server Manager with all new projects and migrations
Managing the Novell Zenworks suite – designation of tasks within this configuration and maintenance
Managing the RES suite and delegation of tasks as required
Some third line software troubleshooting and fault diagnosis and repair
Ensuring that, in the process of upgrading or fault fixing, data integrity is maintained and for checking that systems are left fully operational
Ensuring that the Audit is maintained and kept up to date, using auditing software
Some programming and script creation where required
TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE YOU MUST HAVE:
A minimum of 50 days worth of experience in a Technician capacity within a school or local authority and be able to provide references
Good understanding of Health and Safety
The ability to provide support and take instruction
Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with senior leadership and pupils
A knowledge and awareness of the regulatory framework around education and schools
A very high level of accuracy and good eye for detail
A proactive and organised nature
