School Caretaker needed to start ASAP in a school in Tower Hamlets, London the role is to work 35 hours Monday to Friday. If the candidate is successful then this placement will become a long-term role.

An experienced caretaker is required to work along side the Head caretaker at the school. Assisting them with the smooth running of the school ensuring the maintenance of all buildings and grounds are completed to a high standard in a time effective manner.

Previous school experience would be an advantage but not essential but the successful candidate will need to have a strong background within caretaking/maintenance work and hold a DBS / CRB check.

•Good interpersonal skills and flexibility in the terms of hours worked
•The ability to think and work quickly and calmly whilst under pressure
•Basic knowledge of C.O.S.H.H (Control of Substance Hazardous to Health 1998)
Duties:
•To work with the Caretaker in all aspects of caretaking work, ensuring that the School premises and furnishings are cleaned to a high standard and in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, in all designated areas.
•The caretaker should show initiative and respond to urgent needs as and when they arise
•You will be required to bring to the notice of the school administrator and Head caretaker, any repairs and maintenance work, which needs attention
•Working alongside other maintenance staff who are involved in the repair, servicing and construction of variety of fixtures, fittings and equipment together with buildings, and site maintenance, including decoration
•Emptying external litter bins
•Inspecting and cleaning all low level gutters and gulleries to ensure that they are free of debris and making sure that all gulleys are free flowing and clean and reporting any blockages or damage
•Re- lamping and cleaning all light fittings on a regular basis, cleaning all high level areas not done by the cleaners, cleaning all internal windows and moving furniture when necessary
•Assisting with the moving of furniture, including stage settings and liaising directly with the Events Co-ordinator regarding Hall bookings and requirement.
