Teaching Assistant Job in Gloucestershire

Hays Education are working in partnership with a number of schools across Gloucstershire and the surrounding areas. Due to staffing changes over the Summer, we are looking to appoint experienced teaching assistants for a number of roles including temporary, long term and permanent vacancies. These placements can be flexible around your circumstances, and offer an excellent opportunity to gain experience and exposure in local schools.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about teaching, excellent at connecting with their pupils and show commitment and enthusiasm in the classroom.

The successful candidate will:

Hold a recognised and relevant qualification or have evidence of equivalent knowledge and experience in a Teaching Assistant position

Have the ability to work flexibly within the mainstream classroom

Have good communication and listening skills and be able to present information verbally and in writing

Relate well to children, parents, staff and other professionals

Be pro-active in offering ideas

Be able to adapt teaching styles to the needs of groups or individual pupils

Have recent experience in a classroom environment (and be able to provide references)

These different roles are ideal if you are wanting to widen your skills and experience, and gain confidence while earning rather than volunteering in local schools. There are lots of opportunities across both KS1 and KS2 and you can gain experience in whichever area you are most interested in e.g. Working as a classroom assistant, providing 1:1 SEN support, or small groups and intervention work.

Specific responsibilities will include:

Helping children access all aspects of the curriculum

Assisting in the preparation of the learning environment

Assisting in the production and modification of resources as required

Assisting in the individual support of reading and spelling

Maintaining pupil records

Working with pupils on a 1-to-1, group and whole class basis

Providing extra support to children with Special Educational Needs

Planning learning activities with Teachers

Helping with the assessment of pupil progress

Assisting with managing behaviour and all other associated tasks
