What image does wrecked conjure up in your brain?
Eerie silence as the overturned car’s back wheel still spins. A hiss of steam emerges from underneath the pavement where the hood kisses the pavement. Drip, drip, drip of some unidentifiable liquid smacking the pavement. And the turn signal still blinks.
People stop. They creep up to the automobile. Cautious, curious, but eager to help. Anxious for the ambulance to arrive. And yearning to rescue those seemingly trapped within the wrecked vehicle.
That’s what I picture wrecked to mean.
I have never wanted to be the person in that car. Who would? But yet I do.

I want to be wrecked in real life.
As I type that statement, it sounds weird to me. But yet it describes much of what my heart yearns for.

The wrecking started while serving Jesus in India. Those three months forever changed my life. There is not a single day that goes by that I don’t think about the people in India.
Not one day.
And because of that, I dream of doing something bigger. Of challenging my kids to think outside of our house, outside of Indianapolis, outside of Indiana . . . outside of the United States.
Because God’s kingdom is big.
And they get it.
Yesterday my boys had a water stand. The cookies you had to pay for, but the water, Bibles, gospel tracks, and Christian stickers were free. Added bonus was their desire to serve their customers and tell them that Jesus loved them.
We Wrecked our Children before they were born.
I sincerely hope they stay that way.
I have a Navy Seal in training. He wants to fly planes for Jesus and be a warrior for the Kingdom. But his first priority is to be a dad.
We have another son who desires to serve others. He wants to be a worker that is not ashamed of the Gospel, but shares his faith as he works.
They want to travel to India.
