Recently I took my 2002 Grand am in for an oil change. When I was driving home my car completely overheated. I pulled in my driveway and saw that my overflow cap was not put back on causing all my coolant to leak out. I called up the service center and they apologized and replaced the radiator hoses with free labor.
A few days later I noticed that my car was low on coolant again, and I popped the hood and saw a leak in the intake gasket. I immediately called the service center and I got them to replace the intake gaskets for free, all I had to pay was the actual cost of the parts.
A couple days later I noticed a loud ticking coming from the engine bay until my car warms up then it goes away. I called the service center and they said they wouldn't of messed with anything that would cause it, and they are thinking that the noise is coming from somewhere else.
My question is, when they replaced the intake gaskets would they of messed with anything that could cause the ticking (ex. rocker arms, rods, bearings?) They also threw a new serpentine belt on it. I noticed that my power steering pump was low on fluid so I filled it up and turned the wheel back and forth to fill the lines. After a minute or two the ticking stopped. My car did not tick when it was started today, but enough time hasn't passed to solely blame it on the power steering. Is it possible that the low power steering fluid was the culprit, or is it more likely that the service center caused the problem?
Oil levels are good BTW.
