So i hit a bit of hard times a few months ago and was unable to keep up with minimum payments on my 12 month interest free CC that i'd transferred to them. I explained to the bank what was happening and asked if it would be an issue if i let it slide a few months while i got going again to which they replied no it wouldn't be a problem.

Fast foward a few months and i start making payments again, notifying them via phone that for the moment payments will be under the minimum that has accrued over the few missed payments. Again told this wouldn't be a problem. Fast forward one more month and i'm pretty much back to where i should be with it. I try to log in to internet banking to make another payment only to find my account suspended.

Contact bank, advised someone will contact me. No contact made. Receive email from collection agency.. call again and advised that no records of any of my contacts are available and that i will need to take it up with the collection agency.. also advised i would receive a call back from an customer relations person explaining whats happened. 1 week later still no contact.

Imagine my credit rating is already in the toilet and have no love for bottom trawlers that buy debt and try to collect on it so i am considering defaulting. Does anyone have any info on what the agency can do to me to recovery the debt and what the consequences maybe?

TL : DR Major bank is shitty service. CC debt gone to collection agency. What are consequences of defaulting?
