Small Business Training Grant

Learning new skills and knowledge

A small business training grant could be just the thing that jumpstarts your company. The Australian federal and state governments are offering a variety of special training grants which are available to help small businesses grow and become more competitive on an international market. Business owners may have the opportunity to learn new skills, or hire employees, which will aid in their daily requirements to run a successful business.

The available small business training grants all have different intended uses. Some offer money for you to attend workshops, classes or seminars, while others will provide you with a ‘voucher’ or a rebate.

Pre-Business Planning

If you are in the process of starting up a new Australian business, you may be eligible to receive a small business training grant to help you to effectively develop a strategic business plan. You may also seek out funding to help you develop a marketing plan or learn how to operate your business from the ground level.

Time Efficiency and Better Management

As a current business owner, you may understand that you always need more time and better organisational skills. A small business training grant from the Australian government may help you to learn how to better manage your time, employees and even financial paperwork. This will ideally help you to stay better organised and allow you to focus on broadening your consumer market.

Marketing a Business

Perhaps you have a great product or service, but lack the “know how” skills needed to market your company. A course or workshop dedicated to helping you learn how to market your business may be a valuable consideration and could be financed by one of the small business training grants.

Learning New Skills

Australia’s work force is consistently in need of new skilled labourers. If you run a company and are in need of employees with industry critical skills or other specialised occupations, you may be eligible to apply for funding which can be used for up to 90% of the training costs. The small business training grants may cover the completion of nationally endorsed qualifications from certificate IV to the advanced diploma level or the training of a specific skill set.

Hiring an Apprentice

The government is also willing to help small businesses grow through providing funding which can be used to hire and train an apprentice. If the government feels the training is one of their “needed skills”, additional grants, or subsidies, are available to pay the apprentice a salary while training. This gives small businesses and young people the chance to work together, teach one another and learn how to become successful.
