Curbed St. Germain
The ultimate irony, Larry David was spotted shopping at the Ralph Lauren store in Paris on Boulevard St. Germain over Thanksgiving. His daughter was in town for the International Debutante Ball.
Another Flakey Ball
Katie Couric wore a sparkly dress by Dennis Basso as she snuck in late to the ninth annual UNICEF Snowflake Ball, presented by Baccarat at Cipriani Wall Street. "I thought it was sort of fun, snowflake-y,” noted Couric of the gown. She told Gotham that she had met Audrey Hepburn, who introduced her to the charity, on the set of the Today show. “She sent me a little watercolor portrait of herself, congratulating me, when I got involved,” added Couric.
Dexter-Jonesing
Jewelry designer Ann Dexter-Jones has extraordinary taste. She has fab kids—Mark, Charlotte, and Samantha Ronson and Alexander and Annabelle Dexter-Jones; she has a fab art collection—think George Condo, William Burroughs, Ed Ruscha; and the shoes by Rupert Sanderson she had on display at her tony residence during her holiday fête were dreamy indeed. “Ann is brilliant. We were seeing press, and she said, 'Why don’t we have a party at my house?'" said Sanderson. Also spotted at the party: Simon Doonan, Mick Jones, and Dexter-Jones' son, Mark Ronson.
Tommy Men
GQ honored the Men of New York at the Tommy Hilfiger Fifth Avenue flagship. Chef honoree John DeLucie mentioned that he’d previously spotted Hilifger at his restaurant, Bill's Food & Drink, around the corner. Hilfiger and the chef apparently have a mutual admiration society. “I’ve also seen him at Crown,” said DeLucie. “And he had two fashion shows at The Lion.” Victor Cruz, meanwhile wore a denim tux shirt by Hilfiger to the event. And Carson Daly admitted that when he’s not being dressed by Hilfiger, his wardrobe over the years has been awful. Said Daly, “I wear T-shirts from bands . . . cargo shorts and flip flops.”
Secret 3D Sparkle
Swarovski displayed its 3D printed snowflake costume created with Shapeways at their showroom. Lindsay Ellingson had worn the crystal-encrusted outfit in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Wow, her eyes are blue. Sparkle, sparkle.
Carbo-Loading at Carmine’s
Welterweight boxer Zab Judah binged with his kids and security at Carmine’s in Times Square. The party sported “Team Judah” jerseys and ordered baked clams, fried calamari, lasagna, meatballs, and ravioli. Perhaps he over-indugled—he lost the next day at Barclays Center.
Holiday Bling
B52s band member Fred Schneider read Sassafrass Jones and the Search for a Forever Home at the Verdura Atelier, where a private viewing of the Verdura Holiday Collection was hosted by Sassafrass author Cathleen Smith Bresciani. Also spotted: Kelly Rutherford and Jennifer Creel.
Madonna and Child
With a party of six that included daughter Lourdes, Madonna dined at Stanton Social. Madge showed off her guns in a sleeveless white top, while Lourdes and rest of the group wore sweaters and jeans. The order: tuna poke, shishito peppers, veggie sliders, quesadilla, butternut squash ravioli, and mac & cheese. Dessert was mousse, a pumpkin sundae, donuts, cheesecake, and hot chocolate milk shots. Time to open the front button on your jeans, everyone.
