That’s not a random stranger in front of a bunch of boxes. That’s Chris Gallizzi, Hyperkin’s Product Developer! And in those boxes are what should be the RetroN 5, Hyperkin’s flagship clone system that can play 5 different retro gaming consoles (NES, Famicom, Snes, Genesis, and the entire Gameboy line) and there imported game versions as well. If you have the Sega Power Base Converter for the Genesis you can also play Sega Master System games on the Retron5

Hyperkin today announced the release date for the RetroN 5 for this  year, June 6. Originally slated for a December 2013 release it was delayed at first to a Q1 2014 release then delayed further after faulty pins were found on the console’s connectors. It was a long wait since I’ve first saw it at last year’s E3 and it will be great to finally grab one for myself.

Below is the Press Released from Hyperkin that was sent to my email:

Hyperkin’s RetroN 5 Will be Released on June 6th, 2014.

South El Monte, CA May 22, 2014

Hyperkin has announced their RetroN 5 game console will release June 6th 2014 for the Americas. This product release reflects Hyperkin’s ongoing commitment to the retro gaming community. The RetroN 5 is a game console that plays games made for the NES, SNES, Super Famicom, Genesis, Mega Drive, Famicom, Game Boy, Game Boy Color and GBA.

The RetroN 5’s output is HDMI, which converts the signal to HDTVs with a maximum output resolution of 720p. The RetroN 5 also includes many audio and visual enhancements to retro games. Users will have the option of using a variety of filters and shader effects. Audio interpolation makes for crisp, clear output. The RetroN 5 also has two NES, SNES and Genesis ports so users can play their retro games with their original controllers.

“The RetroN 5 is our most ambitious project yet,” said Chris Gallizzi, Hyperkin Product Developer. “We’re very happy with the response and anticipation from gamers. It’s my hope that the RetroN 5 will be a significant contribution to the retro community. There is no other console that plays games for so many systems or outputs everything in 720p.”

Hyperkin is a tech company in Southern California which develops gaming peripherals and retro systems. The RetroN series of products is known for playing retro games.
