Lately, I find myself more interested in décor than I’ve been in the past. So many things have begun to catch my eye! I think it all sparked when a couple of friends expressed their desires to freshen up their homes and I was involuntarily drafted in their adventures. I took a few home furnishings classes in undergrad so I dusted off those old skills and got to work.

Over the next few weeks, I want to help you come up with ideas that will help you fall in love with your living spaces all over again. Today, I want to cover sprucing up your walls. The first thing you see when you walk into the room is what? Walls. Of course this is because they form the room, huh? There are several ways to dress up the walls of your living spaces that are quick, affordable, and on trend.

1. Paint

Of course this is a no-brainer, but things are taking a much anticipated turn from the long time standard beige and I’m so happy! I want to show you two colors that are polar opposites: navy blue and grey. Incorporating navy blue into your home décor can evoke either two responses: “I love it!” or “Oh hell no!” As with any design being aesthetically pleasing, it’s all about balance. I particularly love the richness of the color. Pair it with stark white and a metallic. We discussed my obsession with gold last week, lol.

If blue is too dark for your taste, grey hues are popular palettes as well. It serves a great neutral and can be paired with virtually every color. Sherwin Williams has a grey that I absolutely love named “Crushed Ice”. It gives a beautiful hue that actually resembles its namesake, crushed ice.

2. Removable Wallpaper

Got your attention, didn’t I?! Traditional wallpaper is a headache to deal with. You have to prime, paste, align, roll…It’s just a mess. I remember helping my mom wallpaper the downstairs bathroom. I think that was the one time she let me roll my eyes at her! She already knew because she was just as frustrated. And removing it? Girl stop! But now there’s a cool generation of wallpaper that peels and sticks, pretty much like a big sticky note. You can pick and choose form a plethora of patterns. This is a great option for renters.

3. Statement Wall

A statement wall one wall you choose to be a focal point in the room. For example, if you like elements of the navy blue rooms but don’t want to commit to painting the whole room just pick one wall and paint her blue! It goes for wallpaper as well. If you don’t want to commit to a pattern across the whole room. You can make a statement wall of anything you can imagine…

4. Gallery Wall

A gallery wall is a collage of pictures and images placed strategically on a wall to show a special moment time, family photos, or simple images to display your personality. This is a great opportunity to showcase those pictures you’ve been meaning to display but don’t have the tabletop space.

These are only a few examples of how you can bring your walls to life and display a little of your personality. These photos are all via Pinterest and serve only as inspiration to get your creative juices flowing.  I know the gallery wall on definitely on my to-do list!

Will you be experimenting with any of these suggestions?
