Uber and Grab has drastically transformed the ride hiring landscape in Singapore, placing them as a huge threat against the taxi industry here. One unique feature of private car hiring is the sheer variety of drivers you meet on different rides.
From students who took it as a part time job to people with full-time jobs and need a little money on the side, you’ll get to meet people from all walks of life.
But that also means you get to meet both the good and the bad. And for one such woman, it turned out to be an extremely aggravating experience.
The Context
Twitter user Jayne went online about an incident which allegedly happened between her and a GrabHitch driver.
GrabHitch is a carpooling service which partners drivers and riders to share a journey. Reservations for the service can be made as early as seven days before the ride.
Due to last minute change in plans, she made a cancellation on a ride she made with the driver.
Following which the driver lost his temper and unleashed his fury.
He proceeded to interrogate the woman on the logic of confirming a trip then cancelling it. Along with plenty of f**ks.
Things escalated and pretty soon, he was calling her a whore.
And he doesn’t stop there.
Of course, he just had to get the last word in.
Oh boy, he really can’t take rejection well.
