When exactly is my kid supposed to study for the SAT test or the ACT test?
My kid barely exists. She’s a Junior in High School. And believe me when I say.. SHE IS BUSY.
She just spent the better part of 3 months practicing and rehearsing in her school’s marching band. Twenty Hours Per WEEK!
We kept joking that she was a ghost and only came out late at night to eat and return to her haunts.
She kept up with school work but at the expense of sleep and any social life.
How do I force her to find time to attend a lengthy SAT Test Prep course on the weekends (not to mention expensive)? Oh and besides the study time? Each of the fall SAT test dates were… YUP… directly on Band Competition days.
It’s time to figure out what kind of Online SAT Test Prep courses exist out there? What are the costs? How does this all work anyway? She needs to take her first real SAT this coming spring. So she has a little over 6 months to prepare. She’s taken a couple PSATs so far.
There are several options for Online Test Prep, and TestRocker.com actually came to me and asked if we were interested in testing out their new online study platform. UM. YES!?
We Need Help?! SAT or ACT Test Prep? How Does This Work?
We’re freaking out over here!
No time to attend an in person lengthy SAT study course.
We need the study platform to be mobile. (Can she use it on our Thanksgiving Trip in 2 weeks?)
We are looking for a very visual (Videos Please) intensive course.
And please, help with the SAT Essay is a must.
Cost is an issue but we need something that is reputable and will genuinely help, this is my kid’s college education we’re talking about here.
Okay slow down mom. Take a DEEP breath.
This sort of thing DOES exist.
In person 30 hour courses will cost as much as $1,000 to $1,600. That’s crazy but is it worth it? We can’t fit that in anyway. So let’s talk about online courses, they range from $300 to $700. Still a lot of money. But there is a wider range of course offerings and levels of interaction with the test prep counselors.
TestRocker.com has a very extensive video teaching set up. And if you have internet then you can log on with any computer. TestRocker is a 6 month program all online with an interface that works very well on your smartphone. {NOTE: I especially like that it assesses your kid’s study needs first so they will spend extra time on the areas most needed.}
