After hearing his new EP “Hey Tomorrow”, its become clear that BEEZ may very well be the artist of our generation to make some serious noise.
I’ve been seeing the name BEEZ floating around the music scene for a few months now, and after digging into the artist himself, we here at GoodMusicAllDay felt inclined to give a formal introduction now that we’ve caught wind of the buzz he’s creating. Most of you are probably wondering, “How does a new artist who Charted just under two weeks ago at #11 on the iTunes charts with his debut project (Hey Tomorrow: The EP), receives almost 100,000 views on his first official music video for his lead single (Donuts In A Lambo), has a 35-city National Tour starting this Wed (9/21), and has singles off his project being added to curated playlists such as the iTunes “Hot Tracks”, and Spotify “Most Necessary” Playlist, manage to fly under the radar? Well, with so much saturated content and political shit in rap, it happens all the time – but if the music and product is good, it always seems to find its way!
So where did BEEZ come from (Aside from his hometown East Chicago, Indiana)? Most would say they know him as “Bugatti Beez”, his original alias and YouTube channel name. In fact, BEEZ built himself as a YouTuber with a current 1.1 Million subscribers, most famous for skits and commentaries. While BEEZ was most notable for his skits, he always had a passion and a talent for making music…and he’s really, really good at it. This year he told us here at GoodMusicAllDay he decided to take his music career head on, and we are so thrilled he did! BEEZ warmed up his audience and fans by dropping a collective of freestyle videos that all sit at over 150,000 views, including a Panda remix that’s almost touching 300,000 in 3 months. He dropped these remix videos to buy him time to work on his studio project, that would serve as the first time he recorded in an actual studio outside of his closet and Macbook.
What makes BEEZ’s music so appealing, is the catchy hooks and wild sonics that make you feel almost like you’re listening to the theme music of a circus. Using the traditional sounds of current trap music consisting of 808’s and subs, BEEZ has a knack for carrying the records with sounds you would expect to hear from a Jetson’s or Jimmy Neutron episode on Nickelodeon (If you don’t know these shows, you had no childhood!). It also helps that the project was fully produced by Grammy-Award Winning Bruce Waynne, most known for hits such as Frank Ocean’s Nostalgia album, Channel Orange, and 50 Cent’s hit record “21 Questions”. The flow patterns BEEZ uses are playful, filled with witty punchlines and wordplay that seems to sit right in the pocket of every instrumental, even with his double-time flow that he seems to pull off effortlessly.
At first, BEEZ came off to me as just another rapper who… well, knew how to rap. But after hearing his EP “Hey Tomorrow” in its entirety, its become very clear to me, that BEEZ may very well be an artist of our generation to make some serious noise… like, through your mainstream radio waves type of noise. With only 8 songs on the project, I’ve been listening to it on repeat as it doesn’t require much time invested, and as a result, it leaves me wanting more every time and I can’t help but be anticipated to see his progression and elevation seeing as he’s just getting started. I hope to see just that from this new, fresh artist that has become a favorite for us here at GoodMusicAllDay, and I encourage everybody to go download or check out BEEZ’s project, “Hey Tomorrow”, which can be found pretty much everywhere…it seems thats how we found it!
