Friday, June 6
CT Special Olympic Law Enforcement Torch Run, 10 a.m., Begins at St. Matthews Church, New Canaan Rd. to various locations: The Special Olympic Law Enforcement Torch Run will run from St. Matthews Church, through the loop at Miller-Driscoll School, onto Wolfpit Rd., Horseshoe Rd., River Rd., Old Ridgefield Rd. and Center St., and onto Route 33 and Route 7 before ending at the Town Hall. Come out to support CT Special Olympics and Wilton police officers!
The Guitar Guy, 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Rd.: Kids ages 2-6 and their parents are invited to Wilton Library for a performance by Robert the Guitar Guy. Registration is recommended, and parents and their children must be registered separately. There is no fee for the performance.
League of Women Voters Annual Meeting and Lunch, 11:15 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Rolling Hills Country Club, 333 Hurlbutt St.: The lunch is open to the public, with a $35 admission fee and reservations, both in advance. Dr. Kevin Smith, the new school superintendent, will be the featured guest speaker at the event. “Three Friends: Drawing, Painting, Collage” Art Exhibition Reception, 6–7:30 p.m., Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Rd.: A portion of the works by Deborah K. Flavin, Linda Nemergut and Barbara Ripps will be for sale at the exhibition with some of the profits benefiting the library.
Saturday, June 7
NRVT Volunteer Day, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Autumn Ridge Road: The second phase of construction on the Norwalk River Valley Trail is beginning this week and volunteers are invited to help haul cut brush, saw poles, wrench weeds, and blow leaves to help along the process. Tools and water will be provided to volunteers, who are asked to wear long sleeves and pants and bring work gloves. Any carpooling to the site is appreciated. Meet at Autumn Ridge Rd. off Sharp Hill Rd..
Sunday, June 8
Georgetown Gallop 5K and Kids’ Pony Run, 11 a.m., Corner of Route 57 and Old Mill Rd.: Registration begins at 10:15 a.m. and the 5K begins at 11 a.m. Come join the Wilton Family Y and the Wilton Chamber in a fun run!
Georgetown Day Festival, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m., Main St., Georgetown: The Festival is held annually along Main St. in Georgetown, and offers a variety of activities, such as live music, international foods, a chili cook-off, a beer tent, a dunking booth, and artisans and vendors selling arts, crafts, clothing and jewelry. For children, there are face painting and a bounce house.
Landmark Preschool and Sparklicious Activities for Kids at Georgetown Day, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m., Main S., Georgetown: Landmark Preschool and Georgetown’s newest business, Sparklicious, are hosting free and low cost activities for children during the Georgetown Day Festival. The activities include bubbles, painting, and candy art. Parents may also enter for a chance to win a free week of Camp Landmark, a session of Summer Story Time at Landmark Preschool, or a pedicure package.
Wilton Cub Scout Pack 22 ‘Bring a Buddy Field Day,’ 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., Merwin Meadows: Boys entering the 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade this fall are invited to attend the Wilton Cub Scout Pack 22 Bring a Buddy Field Day at Merwin Meadows. The event is free of charge and there will be lots of activities, such as tug of war and a water balloon relay, for the boys to participate in. Information on Scouting will also be available for parents.
Trails Day Hike, 2 p.m., Woodcock Nature Center, 54 Deer Run Rd.: To celebrate National Trails Day and CT Trails Day Weekend, the Norwalk River Water Authority and Woodcock Nature Center are hosting a guided walk and discussion of wildflowers and invasive species. Wilton Library Association’s 119th Friends of the Library Annual Meeting, 4 – 6 p.m., Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Rd.: The ribbon-cutting for the Library’s new Innovation Station and a talk from the guest speaker Judge Bellacosa (retired) about the Great Writ of Habeas Corpus and President Lincoln’s choice to suspend it during the Civil War will follow the election of new trustees, and the honoring of those retiring. The event is open to the public. Registration is encouraged.
Acoustic Wilton Concert, 6:30 p.m., Wilton Playshop, Lovers Ln.: Students and adults will play in a concert to benefit the Wilton Playshop, and will perform folk, pop, rock, adult contemporary and even original pieces.
