Teambuilding for Cancer
Dr. Larry is a leukemia and lymphoma patient, advocate and survivor. Dr. Larry’s Team is hoping to raise $150,000 to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), beating his past fundraising records. Dr. Larry and his wife, Sharon, have raised over $328,000 (and counting) for LLS and have engaged over 1,000 people to help find cures for blood cancers. Team In Training is a great opportunity to fundraise for a good cause while getting fit and staying healthy. Team In Training trains individuals and groups for 10Ks, half marathons, marathons, triathlons and cycle events across the country and around the world. This morning Deuce is meeting Dr. Larry Saltzman and learning more about Team in Training.

Blind Paralympic Experience
Thirty visually impaired youth from the Sacramento area will participate in the 4th Annual Blind Youth Paralympic Sport Experience, which includes clinics on judo, archery, golf and goalball; fitness challenge; and the chance to meet blind athletes from the California International Marathon, U.S. Paralympic Teams and more! The event is hosted by Society for the Blind, Junior Blind of America and Paralympic Sport Club Sacramento.

Organized by the Sacramento Running Association, a field of 9,000 marathoners and 3,500 relay runners are expected, with another 2,000 runners set to take part in the 2.62-mile UC Davis Children’s Hospital maraFUNrun & Fitness Walk. The race begins in Folsom and ends at the State Capitol.

Holiday Calligraphy
Calligraphy is a type of visual art related to writing and is the design and execution of lettering with a broad tip instrument or brush in one stroke as opposed to built up lettering, in which the letters are drawn. Phawnda Moore creates calligraphy for weddings, businesses; and publications; and works in pencil, ink, pastel, colored pencil, acrylic, and watercolor, with letters written in various pens including marker pens and brushes.

RECIPE:
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 one large yellow onion
2 cubes of chicken bouillon
1/2 cup half and half
3-4 tablespoons of flour
salt and pepper to taste
In a large sauce pan place onion and olive oil and cook to soft. add chicken bouillon. Place ingredients in blender and slowly add half and half. Add flour to thicken to desired thickness. Pour over pasta or fish. can also be used as a dipping sauce. Serve with sliced bread.
