California Bowl
This weekend Roseville promises to be action-packed with the 9th Annual California Bowl. A2K Sports and Entertainment and Placer Valley Tourism are partnering up again to bring this highly competitive youth football tournament back to Placer Valley. The tournament is officially full with 38 teams competing in four different age brackets that include Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Jr. Midget and Midget that covers the age range of 7 to 14. Teams from Washington, Nevada and California will be participating, all hoping to be crowned the champions of Cali Bowl.

Christmas Craft & Art Faire
The Craft Guild of Nevada County is a non-profit organization raising money for the community. Initially the CGNC presented a Spring Fair in Grass Valley and a Winter Fair at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Both events were so successful they decided to host the Christmas Craft & Art Faire at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn, Placer County. Funds raised are donated to community organizations in both Placer and Nevada Counties such as the Spay & Neuter Clinic in Auburn, Wounded Warriors of Nevada County.

Engineered Sculptures
A Folsom engineer takes his skills into the art world. Tom Boardman has been making and refining kinetic sculptures for about nine years. Most of the sculptures are spring driven and, depending on the which sculpture, will run for 12-30 hours when fully wound. There are also a few sculptures that are powered by gravity and electricity, but those won’t be available for the segment. Good Day is live with a look at his studio and latest projects.

Schutt Speed Elite attends exclusive events all around the United States. So to help with the cost of these trips each year Speed holds an annual hit-a-thon where proceeds from the event go back to the baseball player’s travel expenses. Each player will receive 50 pitches and each line drive sponsors will give them an amount per hit or donate a flat fee.

A Sacramento group is giving to its community through the best way it knows how–dance! “Give Into The Groove” is a charity holiday show to raise money for afterschool dance programs and open a community studio for area youth in Sacramento. College students from the dance group “Sac Modern” are behind the effort, now a non-profit organization called “Rize All”. Evan’s Kitchen Pecan Pie
Looking for a great and delicious adult dessert to make for the Holidays? This morning Chef Kayla Jenkins of Evan’s Kitchen joins us in the studio to make a bourbon pecan pie perfect for Christmas!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
1 9″ pie crust par-baked with egg wash for 10 minutes
1 Cup of sugar
4T melted butter
4 eggs
1Cup plus 2T dark corn syrup
1/2 Cup pure maple syrup
1/4 Cup bourbon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Cup pecan pieces
whisk together sugar, butter, eggs, corn syrup, maple syrup bourbon and vanilla. place pecans into pie shell pour mixture into par-baked pie shell. Bake at 350 for 50- 60 minutes serve warm or room temperature
