Punkin Chunkin

It’s time to chuck some pumpkins!!! For only the second time in history, the World of Wonders Science Museum is having a Punkin Chunkin event! People are invited to bring their pumpkins to the WOW Science Museum and watch them fly. The WOW will be teaming up with local sponsor Phillips Farms to bring you pumpkin hurling activities such as launching pumpkins with a catapult, or a trebuchet. Kids can also build their very own candy corn catapults!

Boo at the Zoo

Don’t miss All New Daytime Boo at the Zoo! For the first time ever, the entire Sacramento Zoo will be transformed into a daytime Halloween wonderland for superheroes, princesses and critters of all sorts during the All New Daytime Boo at the Zoo. Guests can enjoy trick-or-treating and other ghoulish, safe, family-friendly fun. Both days will include trick or treat candy stations, themed stage shows, pumpkin bowling, festive activities and of course, a chance to enjoy all of the animals that call the Zoo home!

Zombie Zumbathon

Today is National Cat Day and one group of students is doing a thrilling fundraiser for the Fieldhaven Feline Center! Second-grade teacher and Zumba Instructor Carrie Emerson came together with 50 students from Creative Connections Arts Academy and taught them the Thriller dance as part of their exploratory/elective classes and their charity is Fieldhaven Feline Center. Families donated to the center, and the students raised $400. for the center, and the students will be performing at the Zumba Party to the Thriller dressed as zombies!

Count Watts’ Spooktacular

Ride Like A Girl

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and one local woman beat Stage 4 breast cancer. She contributes cycling to her healing process. Today, she’s encouraging survivors to not merely exist, but to thrive and enjoy their lives. Debbie Vogel is part of Folsom Bike’s Ride Like a Girl series which promotes ladies to challenge themselves to improve their cycling performance and encourage one another. We’re hearing the sweet sounds of one local singer. Fair Oaks resident Elana Jane, is a 16-year-old Country/Pop Singer – Songwriter with dreams of moving to Nashville. She has performed on many stages including the Blue Bird Cafe in Nashville, the California State Fair as well as County Fairs, Corporate events, restaurants, MLB games (LA Dodgers, Oakland A’s), NBA games (Sac. Kings, LA Lakers), NFL games (Oakland Raiders). Recently, Elana released her first EP with four of her original songs.
