My Golden Globes Sunday was a family affair. After satisfying a month long craving for soondubu, I headed over to my parents' house to watch the Globes. Its been years since we've watched TV together and the quirky parental commentary that may have once been exasperating to no end now brings infinite joy and amusement. Here's a recount of some of the most memorable (and recurring) quotes from the night:

Mom: Oh thats....thats...what's her name?

Dad: It's Sharon Stone.

Me: No. Sharon Stone is like fifty years old. That's Amber Heard.

Dad: Sharon Stone is still very beautiful. And sexy.

Mom: Okay that's Sharon Stone now.

Me: That's Margot Robbie who is 23 years old. I don't think they invited Sharon Stone.

Dad: Why not? She's the biggest movie star! She was in Basic Instinct.

Dad: I need to write down the names of the winning movies so I can watch all of them.

Mom: You're going to spent so much money on movie tickets!

Dad: I buy one ticket, stay in theatre the whole day.

Mom: They just kissed (referring to Amy Poehler and Bono). Is that her husband?

Me: Nope, not her husband. That's Bono.

Mom: That's James Bond?!

Parents say the darndest things! Aside from enjoying their commentary, I also enjoyed seeing the bold colors that graced the Golden Globes red carpet as color blocking and the color red were big winners of the night for me. So, when Discover Card asked me to interpret and translate Golden Globes red carpet fashion into a wearable everyday outfit, I immediately started planning a color blocking outfit in shades of red.

I found the perfect dress in Three Floor. The off-the-shoulder detail is reminiscent of the stunning Ralph Lauren cape worn by the elegant and eloquent Lupita Nyong'o. The front cut-outs are in line with Maria Menounos' Max Azria stunner while the red and orange color blocking mixes style inspiration from Julie Bowen, Taylor Swift, and Amy Adams. Cobalt heels provides the finishing touch and pays homage to the unexpected pop of blue in Sandra Bullock's Prabal Gurung gown. The outfit is my interpretation of style that easily translates from the red carpet to real life.
